Wow! Just got the Shiny Beast back from the dealer (Winchester HD/Buell). I have to say that it was a real treat. Ever been to a Harley shop where the head of the service department was wearing a "Buell Racing" t-shirt? That ranks up there with being struck by lightning on a clear day in your front yard! Do you believe this? He races Buells for the dealership. Crazy right? Funny, but they also sell a lot of Buells...and Harleys. Funny too that the lead Buell mechanic is also very popular with the Harley customers. Who would have thunk that having highly trained personnel could affect the Harley side too! A truly different business model for HD. About time right? New business. We met today. Appreciate those who made it. The plan is to meet at Misha's next time. Misha's is on US 1 immediately before King Street going north. After that, I recommend that we visit Ratbuell at one of the few racing dealerships. Rat has been and is a GREAT Buell supporter and the dealership is a great Buell dealer too. Let us know what you think or want to do. |

I'm wide open to meet at Misha's...make it a definite date and time, and I'll be there. I took my Uly in for it's 10,000 mile service (about 2,000 miles too late) today, and noted conversation among the dealer personnel regarding how to win new business...it just nailed home how serious the economy is these days. I've never been sold so hard while browsing. And I'm a 2-time buyer. Guess what I sat on... ...the CR...I love that thing. Anyway, I'm getting a new front tire too - a Scorpion Sync. Looking forward to having a bike with a fresh once-over. Tomorrow, I'll be doing a long day on my Harley. |

Winchester HD/Buell Funny, I stopped in that shop twice in one visit, my first and last. Spent half an hour looking at the Buells, and never had anyone so much as say boo to me. After that I went to Frederick and had a completely different interaction. (And that was even while Ratbuell was out.) Frederick will get all my business, even if the Winchester shop is 10 minutes from work. (Message edited by thetable on February 09, 2009) |

See? That's why I'll ride an hour and a half to Frederick. Ride right past the Baltimore shop too. |

Nah, Smiley's not a flamer. He's just thinking we really like him since we went to the trouble of following him all the way to Homecoming back in July... |

Ain't nuthin' wrong with a 'vette. Had one in high school - the SUPERfast 4 door automatic. Whoo-HOO!!! Didn't know what to do with myself when I upgraded to a Cutlass with a 307! |

We plan on visiting them both (Frederick and Winchester) later. Rat will be our first priority. Rat goes the extra mile! I (long ride) will also be visiting Shenandoah HD. Bought my first Buell, an X-1 from them. Believe it or not, the owner spent an hour with me when I bought that bike. A GREAT dealership! Any time I visit there, it is like homecoming, and I only bought one bike from them! Three hours there and three hours back, but always worth it. |

Old Blaster about to move to Northern Virginia, just a bit to the left of DC. I'll be in Hume! Went to look at the house yesterday, and came upon a motorcycle in the ditch and the rider on the ground, moving, but not happy. Any groups in the area? PM me or email me. It's my name @ my web page. See profile for web page. (Avoiding web crawlers that look for email to spam...) (Message edited by reuel on February 09, 2009) |

Reuel - welcome to the area! Always nice to have another thumper running around Black - thanks for the kind words, but you do tend to bring out the best in folks. That 'southern gentleman' drawl and relaxed pace and all.....lol. Looking forward to seeing you. Ramon (Rasmonis) took our CR out for a spin on Sunday and had some interesting things to say about it - all good. I think the first few phrases - all he could come up with - started with a "holy" and ended with a synonym for poo. Needless to say, I think he was impressed - we need to get you on one as an 1125R owner, and see what you think. Me, I'm waiting till the demo fleet gets here in May (for obvious reasons, lol). |

Reuel...you probably already know that you're moving to some of the best riding in the area. I love passing through Hume on my VA rides. Say hi to Brit for me if you see him. Sounds like we might be getting some forward movement on DC/MD/VA Bueller rides this year. (Message edited by hooper on February 10, 2009) |

So for what it' worth, we may have five new local riders soon. Two of them securing deposits, one has paid in full and the other two are pending transfers of there credit apps from other stores, all this during the timonium show over the weekend. It was a lot of fun to meet so many Buell riders I had never seen in the store for one reason or another. Had I thought a little more about it I would have had a note pad there to get email info. but I am not a salesmen so I don't think of those thing off the top of my head. for those of you I did meet again thanks for coming. I think I gained a little leverage for adding a Buell counter/section along with becoming a sponsor of BW. time will tell but with all of the help I get from each of you, by returning to our store, this may become one of the premier stores for Buell. |

Well, it would be nice if Baltimore became one of the good Buell dealers. I would really really like to have it close by. Maybe it IS me though. To be honest I've been treated OK at Baltimore HD. Maybe I should be nicer in the future? |

well, after talking to the wife. it looks like she has approved funds for a upgrade to a uly. i will wait until i have about 5k miles of experience from riding the blast. I hope to be able to purchase by the fall. I guess dragging her to the IMS show helped. |

My wife likes the white Firebolt. My financial priorities have changed for the near future, so I'll be Blasting for a while yet. When the day comes, they'll be parked side-by-side in my garage. I'll probably never let my Blast go. I have to change the rear wheel because I've done enough damage to it that I should stop trying to fix it... |

i want to try and keep the blast too. for me, it will become more of a play toy/ sports bike. if you get a firebolt, the blast would be a perfect dc area commuter. |

Short notice, I know...but we're having a garage party for the ladies today at HD/Buell of Frederick, 10-12am. It's designed for starting riders, but we always welcome seasoned female riders to share their experiences too! |

I'd like to promote a few rides: 1) July 9-11, 2009 - RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend I've signed up to do this event. It's looks to be a good time and it's not that far away. See link below. I've also booked a room at the Wisp Resort for this event. It's a Double Suite that has 3 beds. The event room rate is $129 per night regardless of the number of beds. Anybody what to share the room? http://www.roadrunner.travel/rrevents.php http://www.wispresort.com/ Room layout: http://www.wispresort.com/wisp/info/accommodations .aspx 2) August 14-16, 2009 - VW Buell Rally I did this last year and had a great time. It'll be your lost if you don't attend. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 432249.html?1235165336 3) August 28 - September 04, 2009 - The Honor Run: Ride with Dave Barr I plan to ride the first day to PA and then return the following day. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 430901.html?1235217148 I'd also like to put this out to everyone. This has been talked about before, but it never got off the ground. I would be willing to lead a ride every month during the riding season. I put together a short 150 mile ride from Ft Washington HD to Annapolis HD\Buell. It's mostly back roads, I've got a stop at around 90 miles for Gas and to get something to drink. I've done this ride several times last year and most liked it. If we could get a few others to do the same thing in others areas around DC that would be great. Anybody up for a ride? |

Well, it looks like my commute to work's gotten considerably shorter starting mid March. I'm pretty psyched to be getting a lot more riding in this year. Rat, put new plugs in, TPS reset and set the idle - the plugs that came out where dark brown and wet. Idle's nice now, but still runs like well, you heard it. Think I got a lean condition to trouble shoot. I'm going to put the stock maps back on and work from there. This week will be nice and I may have some extra time - maybe to work on it. I'll let you know how it goes... |

Hey Paul, Thanks for posting the riding events. I would like to do the WV rally. (I know you are used to typing VW, but c'mon...) Also, the monthly riding sounds good. We have been doing part of this ride anyhow some months, I think. Brian |

Joe, maybe you can help me with this problem on my Uly. I took the bike out yesterday morning for a short ride (I know it was raining and snowing, but it does say 'bad weather' bikers when I open the site) and have this recurring problem. When I slow down, the bike starts to not fire on the rear cylinder. This only happens when it is raining! A similar experience occurred when I rode to Buffalo in the rain, and after a stop for lunch in Bath, NY, I lost the rear cylinder when I got back on the 390. Got into a rest area contemplating my next move and revving the engine. Eventually it heated up and the rear cylinder came back. As long as the engine is hot, it runs fine, although I have lost the rear cylinder on the beltway. What do you think? The guys at Baltimore have not been able to figure it out. |
