HELP, I pulled my cam cover off my 01 S3T to fix a leak and pulled the cam out with the sensor. After putting everything back together I seem to have a vibration from idle to 2800 rpm. I am worried I might have the cam off a tooth. After about 3000 rpm it smooths out and runs great. Ideas please..... |

Not likely it, check the rubber mounts especialy the front one. it your off by one tooth I would be shocked that things did not hit one another If you are that concerned properly disassemble the gear case check and retime if needed, you could have the engine / efi timing off too. still sounds like a mount to me look at the front mount.. YMMV |

Thanx Guys I pulled the plugs and rotated engine over a few times and checked the dots and marks ( photo ) before re-assembly. I guess I wanted to here that things would hit if assembled wrong. Next step is checking mounts, I scribed marks to get timing where it was, I even retarded a bit just to see if it would help and it didn't. Thanx again |

Just remember, if you have a camaro and need a distributor. The marks dont work like this. If you do not follow the manual YOU WILL FAIL. No i didnt do the up on that fix. Warned them though, they dint listen. |

Do a compression test. It will be off from cylinder to cylinder if you lined them up wrong. |

Okay, changed the front isolator, seemed to cure most of the vibration, now new problem. Was re-torqueing the front mount bolts and the left one stripped. Any body use helicoils in their heads |
