so who is wearing motoport kevlar gear? is it worth the money,and how is the venting on the stretch kevlar.it's time for some new gear and i am looking at motoport, and aerostich darien (no jumpsuits) | ||

Motoport/Cycleport gear is the best purchase I have ever made in motorcycling. Nothing else, farkles, etc., comes close. I LOVE my Kevlar Air Mesh gear and I wear the Kevlar racing gloves as well. I've had the gear for three years, through one major wreck, and I love it in the winter(with their liners) and summer. I've ridden across the Mojave in mid June and it did it's job. I can't say enough about the gear. Read the testimonials! | ||

Paid for itself in first week on a decreased awareness of mortality/decreasing radius left turn in the twisties that took me over the side of the rural road and down 20' of gravel and rock embankment. Nothing happened to me or the Air Mesh suit. Have ridden it in 35F-112F conditions with proper layering/ hydration. Get mistaken for a firefighter a lot when walking around in the gear. Styling-wise, I took off the top jacket pockets and if I were purchasing now, would upgrade to the quad armor and the newer style jacket. I use their rain gear but passed on the thermal layer as I already have great gear for backpacking. Great company to deal with, VERY comfortable product, expect to grow old riding in this same gear. Long, informative thread called "Dear Motoport..." at ADVRider that will give you many points of view. | ||

I have the 'waist' length jacket instead of the longer jacket. I much prefer not having the upper two jacket pockets and I really like the zipper attaching the jacket and pants on about 80% of the circumference. I bought the gloves and LOVE them as well. I also bought the rain liners but not the heavier liners. I use a Gerbing liner for the real cold days but the rain liners are windproof and allow riding in pretty cold weather. I'll second the comments on the pleasure of working with Cycleport/Motoport. Great folks. | ||

I've got the Ultra Air Kevlar pants. Excellent for hot weather and very warm with the liner zipped in. They are pretty baggy, but that does leave plenty of room for wearing street pants under them. Easy on and off with boots on too. Best protection out there. | ||

I've got the their Kevlar air mesh jacket & pants, quad armour, hip pads, rain gear, thermo liner for jacket, and rain booties. Yep, I spent a bit ... but this is the best gear I've ever owned. I ride year-round and the gear is warm in the winter and very tolerable in the summer (above 40 mph). When I moved to south Georgia, the hot and humid weather made my beloved leathers unbearable to wear/smell after a while. This outfit does the trick ... and it is washable. | ||

For me, the Motoport air mesh kevlar works fine in cool weather thanks to the rain/wind liner - down to low 50's. Coldest day I rode started at 28F. I've done many days in the 30's and 40's. The gear works very well when I use everything; suit, rain/wind liner, thermo liner in jacket, boot booties. I also wear a thin wool sweater and a balaclava. On top of my winter riding gloves I use Aerostich Rain Glove Covers #436 ($3, XXL industrial dish gloves ). This system works very well for me. I simply take off layers as conditions warrant. A word of caution: when you put all this on, be ready to ride! I actually get hot if I'm not in the wind after 5-7 minutes. Nobody wants to start sweating in the gear - especially when it is cold! If I had to do it over again (or maybe for Christmas next year) I would skip the thermo liner and simply buy a heated vest to put under the rain/wind liner. While I'm at it, I'd get the heated hand liners boot insoles. Then I should be good to go even colder. | ||

I'm planning on getting the mesh one piece suit when I move to Hawaii this summer. I am not so sure however about how baggy all the suits look. Hopefully I can ask them to make it fit no bigger than my Phantom one piece suit. For anyone who lives in wet cold climates like here in Belgium, the Olympia Phantom one piece suit I currently own is very nice. Especially with the liner in. |
