I know, they really don't go together, but have a track day coming up which generated a couple of questions. I'm sure you guys have noticed, but these bikes seem to want to run well above the posted speed limit. Bad Buell, Bad. Anyone have a recommendation for a little more protection at speed? Not looking for weather protection, just something I can tuck behind. Also, I'm assuming the pucks do a decent job protecting the frame, but anyone have any crash experience and can tell me whether or not axle sliders are worthy additions? Frame sliders? I will probably only get 2-3 track days a year, so not like I'll be racing the thing. Thanks in advance. |

I used a Dubble Bubble windscreen that was perfect for me on the interstate. As for the axle sliders, yeah, I got a road test on mine. I got hit by a truck on 12/29. The bike went down on it's left side and there was no damage to the swingarm or front forks. They totaled it anyways because of the big ass dent caused by the Chevy front end on my right side of the frame. http://www.d2moto.com/Honda-Suzuki-Black-Spike-Swi ngarm-Spools-Sliders-p/sa008-black.htm I used these. I went out and bought a piece of all thread the connect to two. A lot of people here thought it was a bad idea and felt the bike would flip once the sliders dug in. That was not the case. They filed down pretty good but kept the swingarm and forks off the road. |

I highly recommend getting a set of axle sliders, like those from DarkHorse Moto. I bent a swingarm at the track two years ago that could have been prevented with axle sliders. Without them, the swingarm took the brunt of the impact and bent the swingarm to the point the axle couldn't be removed. Had the axle taken that force, I'm nearly positive the swingarm would have been A-OK. |

Word of caution with the Double Bubble windscreen. They tend to leave magnifying glass marks on your Speedo/tach from the sun rays. I have a Double Bubble windscreen on my XB and it works great for what it was intended. I wished I would have known before I put it on and taped or painted the ridge on it. Anything you need for your Buell go Here> http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/17143.html?1266096588 Sliders > http://www.darkhorsemoto.com/ Most definitely Frame pucks the best money you will ever spend on your bike is for protection |

P47, thanks amigo. A quick plug for Keith at darkhorsemoto - I asked a question today and received an email response within 30 minutes - on a Sunday... and Valentine's Day to boot! Seems like a great guy. Sliders inbound. |

You'll be happy. They were designed specifically for the XB, so fit is perfect and they look really great. |

They tend to leave magnifying glass marks on your Speedo/tach from the sun rays i can account for that! |

Use the SPORT TOURING windscreen, NOT the Double Bubble Double Bubble is more "stylish" but the Sport Touring is FAR better for streamlining and wind protection. I started using the Sport Touring after seeing how well it worked for Cicotto and sat on his bike at Hals. I've run both and trust me - IF wind protection and reducing drag is more important than style, you'll go to the Zero Gravity Sport Tourning. Remember, most folks look at the windscreen in pictures of the bike with no rider in the saddle. Sit in the seat with your chest on the airbox and you'll immediately know what I'm talking about. The fairing/windscreen is MUCH LESS DRAG cutting through the air than your shoulders and helmet.

my bike had that happen before i got it. i bought my bike used, and it had the stock OEM windscreen on it when i got it. the upper part of the black plastic on the guage cluster seemed like it had melted a little, it was stil intact and works great, just that instead of the plastick being flat as it should be, it has a little wave in it |
