I am putting some break-in miles on my 2010 Uly and have to report that, holy cow, are the headlights better. I don't recall from the dealershow in Denver last summer that the headlights were going to be improved. Compared to my 2007 Uly, where I tried all sorts of bulb options before HID and added driving lights for night riding, this one stock is more than adequate. Let me put it this way, coming home from work tonight, no less than four cars bipped their high beams at me and I didn't even have my high beam on! (perhaps its aimed a tad high?) That never happened with the 2007. I have a parts book on order. I have to see what has changed in the lighting system; bulbs, light housing, wire gauge, I dunno. It surely can't be the Canary Yellow over the Barricade Orange, can it? ~jammer |

My 09 is quite adequate too. Mar 09 build. I keep thinking maybe I need to add lights but can't get motivated because I see fine. Anybody else? |

They did change the part number on the 2009's headlight assembly, I didn't think anything of it. Y0721.6AC HEADLAMP ASSY, WORLD, LEFT & RIGHT Retail Price:$116.00 |

I don't do alot of night riding but was suprised when folks here mentioned the Uly had crappy lights. My 09 has much better lighting them my Sportster did. |

...HEADLAMP ASSY, WORLD, LEFT & RIGHT... Since my '06 parts catalog differentiates headlight assemblies between right and left traffic variations, maybe this is a universal assembly with a redesigned and better reflector. Sounds like a good idea if so. |

Lynn's 07 Sporty has a good headlight as well, better than the 09 Uly, stock. I believe that you cannot have enough light at night on a bike. The worse bike was the 97 S1... It was almost like the light was bending back on itself the faster I went. Scary stuff. Ride safe. |

Reversed two wires in the assembly so both lights are on at high beam. No problem seeing. |

I found that my 2008 uly was worse than my 2000 X1. (better than my 1979 sportster though!) |

My 08 build 09 XT came with lights and a white cane. Aimed properly, couldn't see chit. Replaced the bulbs with Sylvania 4100 Bright Whites. Can read the lips of oncoming cagers, even with them aimed right. |

"Are you sure they just aren't aimed too high??" My 2007 Uly with both lights blaring never got a head light flash. ~jammer |

Having an early 06 one of the common complaints was that for the hi beam to focus down the road the lo was pointing almost straight down. Only adjustemnt ws to move the entire housing, thus now that lo is pointed properly hi beam is focused to top of telephone ploes. That was a fairly common issue presented on this board in 06. Did her about it after the 07's came out. |

I also have an 09 and have never felt the "need" for more light. I sometimes think it would be nice and I do plan on adding some bright driving lights someday, but I have never felt the stock lighting was at all unsafe under any conditions. |

Aimed according to the book. I took the 4100 out of the low beam light and replaced it with a less bright bulb, but brighter than stock. No issues with oncoming traffic and no changes in aim . The original bulbs were a hazard at night - pale and diffuse. |
