After my abortive attempt last weekend, this is the real deal. East from ABQ, down S 14 to Mountainair, on to Carrizozo, east to Capitan and Lincoln (Billy the Kid country), back to Carrizozo for a great hamburger, then a little dirt stretch up through White Oaks, Jicarilla and Ancho (stopped by snow three weeks ago), and back home. Predicted high in 50's...since S 14 has some twisties hopefully I can avoid the morning "mental chill" of the slab last weekend. Maybe even a few pics... --Doc |

Hey Doc, Question for you, would you happen to know if the original Owl Bar, home of the green chili cheese burger and fries, is still open on the road to the north side of White Sands missile range? It's been a few years since I've been there but I'm researching a "lower 48 state" ride for when I retire from the USAF and wanted to make that one of my stops. |

If you put two ancho peppers so that their bases were touching, but their crowns describe an arc of 45°; would tou consider them to be an ... Ancho vee? |

There is NOTHING in Ancho; I'll try to get a picture.

Yessir! It is in San Antonio, NM a few miles SE of Socorro (near I-25). I haven't eaten there in a few years, but always proclaimed to have the best green chile (with an "e", please :-) cheeseburger in New Mexico. Gotta get my gear on and head out. This time I'm gonna FINISH the ride. Pics tonight or tomorrow. --Doc |

Doc, You are finally riding through an area of New Mexico that I am familiar with. Did the Roswell to San Antonio and back on 380 ride last spring. Had lunch in Carrizozo, don’t remember the name of the place I ate at but they made a great green chili cheese burger. Ride safe and have fun. Tim |

Doc, be careful of the weather. We have 3 winter storms moving through NM this week. And yes the Owl is still there. I ate there a couple of weeks ago. Really good bird watching at the Bosque del Apache right now!! |

I did the ride w/no problems. Rode over to Lincoln and did some historical browsing. I'll get some pics up when I find time (I finally had to go back to work today). The weather in NM this week doesn't look too great. --Doc |
