i have put an XB tie bar on my 99 M2,i replaced the one between the cylinders by putting a top hat washer in the frame hole to reduce it down to the XB bolt size,i then ground off the inverted U on the top mounting bracket and drilled/tapped a hole into it for the bolt(i had to use a spacer between tie bar and top mount),i used metric ti bolts for this(shaved about a pound off doing it) i would like to replace the tie bar on the front of the engine with an XB one, i think a bolt with the end turned down and threaded to fit the XB tie bar would work for the engine mounting side but am stumped as to how to mount the other end to the frame?the tie bars are slightly different lengths so cant just use two top hat washers to reduce the hole size and am not a competent welder to weld up the holes, has anyone got any ideas/advice ??? |

Please tell me why you are using XB tie bars? the bars limit motion between the motor and the forward frame section the eye to eye distances are sorta critical |

i like the XB tie bars better than the stock tube ones,i installed the top one about three years ago and no problems so far,eye to eye was sorted by modifying the mounting bracket so alignment is spot on,thats why i am asking for ideas/advice in the front lower tie bar as crankcase mounting shouldn't be to hard but mounting the other end to the bottom of the V on the frame has so far stumped me without welding up the holes and re-drilling them to get eye to eye distance spot on,as i am not a welder, to me its an upgrade on stock parts and i shaved 326g with this mod so far, |
