Hadn't ridden the CR in a couple of months. Been sitting under a cover on a battery tender in the garage. Took it out today since it hit 60 degrees in North GA. Had to crank it like 7 or 8 times before it would finally start. Yikes ... Fuel injection should start right up ... very strange. 310 miles on my 2009 CR .... |

Did you use fuel stabilizer before parking the bike? The gas may not be the greatest quality after sitting for a while. My carbureted bikes are grumpy about starting up after they sit for a couple of weeks but my fuel injected bikes generally start right up even after a few months. Another thought--it might not be a bad idea to wait several seconds after turning the key on to let the fuel system fully pressurize before trying to start the bike. |

20 Degrees >>I noticed with mine it sputtered and wouldnt start. But if I open my throttles up say 20% and crank it for 2 seconds. Then let the throttle close and crank again it would start right up no problems. Its like the injector prime spray isnt enough in cold situations. This is everytime I start it up.Just my 2 cents "18k" |

When I was doing my valve clearance check I had the fuel system disconnected. The check took longer than I expected and it ran about 2 weeks. Went to go start it up after getting all back together and it took some cranking. Best I can figure is the fuel lines were empty and full of air. Probably what happened to you, it lost pressure and drained back into the tank. |

The weather was finally nice today. My xb started and quit 4 times before it would idle. I did not get to ride the 1125 , maybe tomorrow . I might need to get a early start if it's going to take a while to get it to run |

Mikezx9r - Mine too. It doesn't like the warm/hot starts. |

Mine was tough to start yesterday after sitting overnight in a cold garage. Needed the throttle open a bit (probably the 20% mentioned above) and then closed again before it's start, when it did there was blowback through the TBs (I thought the airbox was going to fly off!). After that it has been fine... |

If your bike has been sitting for a while and you want to start it, fire the fuel pump more than once before you hit the starter. Do that by either turning the key off and back on, or sometimes you can cycle the kill switch and it will re-prime. I usually prime mine 3x before starting if it's been sitting. The extended starts come from a 'dry' fuel system - fuel does bleed back into the tank as it sits, and repeated priming will get the air out so the bike fires up. |

mine is a pain in the aerse if it sits to even backfires once or twice then its fine I guess its the nature of the beast |

Very hard to start here too if it sets for a while in the cold temperatures. I have not had the warm/hot starting issue though. |

Mine always fires right up, but I keep it on a tender at all times. Even after our 14 straight days of freezing temps here in Florida, it fired right up after sitting for those two weeks. I've not had any hot start problems either. Often I will start it to leave work and then shut it off at the gas station. It always fires right up. I do wait for the cold engine to stop flashing before riding. (Message edited by moosestang on January 19, 2010) |

It fired right up after work today and after filling it up with gas as well. I'm guessing 2 months with no run let the fuel drain out of the lines. Gonna be even warmer today so I'm gonna run home again at lunch and get it. Not sure when I'll be able to ride again before spring so gotta take every opportunity. I've never had warm/hot start problems. (Message edited by dmhines on January 19, 2010) |
