2000 Buell X1 Lightning. It is all stock with 2132 miles. I love this bike so far but it has 2 minor problems I need help with. 1) Neutral light is always on. Maybe a sensor? Shifts fine, runs good, no noises.

2) Speedo stopped working the other day. Looking in the forums it looks to be a bad sensor. Removed and cleaned sensor and still not working.

First Buell I have ever owned and so far I love it! P.S- where can I get a aftermarket aircleaner for my Buell? I dont really care for the stock air filter and plastic housing. Thanks guys!

As to your neutral light, mine, was a broken e-clip holding the shift detent plate. This was accompanied by trouble with finding certain gears. The stock e-clip is a known weakness of the stock setup. Unfortunately the fix is a Baker shift drum with a bolt on detent plate, expensive.
Last p/n that I had for a new speedo sensor was #74402-95B.
For an aircleaner I like the old sportster ham can style, for it and other styles try American Sport Bike, a board sponsor.
There are several threads with more info on the shifter, neutral light to be found by searching the knowledge vault. Happy to be of any further help.

Thanks for the info. I replaced the vss on my bike and it cost me $54.00 and a half hour of my time to repair. As far as my neutral light always being on I think I will let my local motorcycle shop look into that one!
