I have an '09 XB12X and are wondering if the ecmspy software is compatible with this year. As I see several cables on ebay and wonder if this is something I should consider picking up. |

As far as I know ECM spy will only work on pre '08 models. Most people get it for resetting the TPS which is a 10,000 mile maintenance item. The 08+ Buells do not need ECM spy for this as I believe the ECM can do the TPS reset on its own. |

ECMspy currently is not compatible with your bike. |

Wonderful, I just bought a cable on ebay for my '09 XB12X - should have researched this better! How about the DirectLink software - is it useful? I'm more interested in the ability to read and clear codes rather than tweaking the tuning, but would probably get into that at some point. |

ECMspy support is limited on the 09's, from what I have read (haven't tested myself), it will read and clear trouble codes. |

Wheely, does it let you do TPS resets and other general diagnostics like ECMspy? Also, does it let you do that stuff without the hardware key? I heard the key is needed for tuning. |

I also have an 09 Uly that I feel should run better in the 1800-2800 rpm range. From 3000 rpm up it rocks. I have found very little information on tuning the 09xb's. I'm interested in any experience owners have had with these bikes. |

The key is needed,so is the tuning manual. I got my key from techno research directly and the manual from Al at American Sport Bike I recommend getting it all from Al.He was so much help with the early version of the program. I used it to tune a 05'XB12R 88" back in o5-o6. I have a key for my ULY all I have done is Marry it to the ECM at this point. |

Buellmeister57, I feel the same as you. Mine is still under warranty, so I will be taking it to the dealer soon to try and get it running better (lean running, surging, pinging)I have reservations about taking it to the dealer but I'm trying to keep an open mind at this point. I do however want to learn how to tune this bike in the future. I have read some interesting articles on a site that can't be mentioned on here that may be of some help. I don't know anything about this guy. I just stumbled on the site during a search. PM me if interested. |
