An interesting article in the February issue of Roadracing World. I would have to agree: The wrong bike died (Buell, not the Sportster) The article made the claim that BRP wanted to buy the right to the 1125r, but HD refused. First I had heard that. |

I looked at a XR1200 and thought...wow, you could have bought one of those 10 years ago from Buell during the tuber years. There was an inside BRP guy that tried to get them to make an offer. This was back when I looked at the first pics of the spyder mock up...done for BMW to resemble the boxer touring bikes. That didn't take, so they re-created Can-am. I don't know if BRP didn't offer or HD refused, but the idea was floating about years before HD shut them down. Even taking the liquid bikes would have been easy to transfer over. BRP isn't in a great position right now to take on Buell. Economy has hit their market very hard. |
