i just noticed my rear motor mount has 2 of the 4 bolt corners broken. scale of 1 to 10, ten being the hardest, how much of a bitch is this fix gonna be? |

Rather difficult fix, you have to remove the engine from the frame to access it. Had to replace mine for the same reason. A clever mechanic could remove the swingarm and possibly gain clearance to replace the mount, but its still a pain and very time consuming. |

I assume you have read this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/522852.html?1261140790 I need to get out and look at mine tomorrow to see what condition it is in. pretty sure it has done multiple stoppies with hard landings before I bought it. |

I replaced mine 6 months ago. I'll give it an 8.5 or 9 on difficultly. You don't have to remove the motor from the frame but you have to lower it enough to get the mount out. From following the manual there were a lot of short cuts I took. Like it tells you to remove the coil, there is no need to do that since it is not in the way while lowering the engine. It also says to take off the oil cooler and voltage regulator. You don't have to do that if you unbolt the bracket that holds both of them to the frame. Taking out 2 bolts is a lot easier than messing with the harness for the VR and oil lines for the cooler. I'd say the only thing more difficult would be R&R an engine. It took me all day to do mine including going to the hardware store for stubby allen wrenches and I also switched out my header with a ceramic coated one. If I did it again and just replaced the rear mount it would take me less than half the time. Would of helped if I had another person to line up bolt holes when I was putting it back together. |

OK, you all made me go look. No visible cracks, all bolts in place. +38000 miles on my '03. It would be nice to hear some vehicle history from those that have had a failure... |

I've been a Buell mechanic for over 7 years and I've only seen 2 rear mounts broken. Its not really an issue in my book. The 2 I replaced were damaged in crashes. I wouldn't worry about it guys. |

I was told by the insurance company that mine had been wrecked before I bought it. I never thought about asking since it looked like a completely new bike with under 5K miles on it... I agree that if your bike was not seriously crashed it is probably not an issue. I will also say that it sucks to have it happen to you! |

I did check mine and it was fine, so I'm happy. |
