Sometimes my '08 1125r wont start. It seems to mostly happen after it is ridden and then parked for a little while. Usually when it sits for 30 minutes up to 2 hours, it cranks and wont start. I have to cycle the kill switch off and then back on or else it will just crank. This isnt another one of Buell's unique characteristics, is it? It gets embarrassing when Im riding with my buddies and my new bike wont start. They usually say "Its a Buell, what do you expect?" Is there anything that commonly causes this no start condition? Edit: Bike has just under 900 miles, a tune from the unmentionable place, k&n air filter and jardine exhaust. Had issue before and after mods. No difference in how often it occurs. My '09 CR does this too, latest flash. Cold start - fires immediately. Hot start after a brief stop - fires immediately. "Warm" start after sitting for an hour - fires immediately. Hot start after sitting for 15-45 minutes or so - doesn't start, turns over and over until I pick it up with a little throttle. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet because my experience is that I have to give them an *exact* reproducible scenario or they'll just write "can't reproduce" on the repair order. I have to get the times down a bit more. Does that match your symptoms? KeS | ||

That is pretty much what I run in to, Kevin. Im with you on the dealer part. I have a feeling it doesnt happen frequently enough for them to put the effort in to finding the cause. | ||

Same thing with mine as well. And I also have been choosing to live with it as I don't expect the dealer to investigate much (if at all). Starter motor will run but it won't fire unless I roll on the throttle while holding the starter button down. EXACTLY like what Kevin says above. | ||

I just cycle the kill switch and it fires right up. I guess Ill try to get in to the habit of doing that when Im going to attempt to start it when it usually gives me problems. |
