I currently own a Road King and a Buell 1125CR. I like them both and ride them both. I belong to Buell forums and Harley forums. I know the Harley forums do not have a section for Buell riders. I could see dropping this section from this forum and maybe having any HD news in a "news" or "general chat" area. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go along with Blake on this one. It does seem like an insult to Buell riders to continue an association with HD on this board. Just my two cents. |

I, for one am against "deleting" Harley from this board. Some folks own both. I also own a Kawasaki, where's the Kawasaki section? I also own a Harley and won't miss this section much. I gotta agree with Blake on this one. My favorite Harley forum is xlforum.net - they only do sportsters, though they have a Buell section with limited participated. Take a visit and you'll see the board just got out of hand - everyone wanted a section for something, and now the place is impossible to navigate unless you've been around for a while. There's seriously a section for Dating, Marraige and Life Relationships where people talk about problems with their girlfriends or whatever. It's kind of neat - I participated in it, but it's a little refreshing to come here and have a very focused forum to participate in. |

Milwaukee, Wis. -- (Friday, November 20, 2009) Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) announced today that following the company’s recent decision to discontinue the Buell motorcycle product line, Erik Buell, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company, will leave the company to establish Erik Buell Racing, an independent motorcycle race shop. Erik Buell Racing will specialize in the supply of race-use-only Buell motorcycle parts and race preparation services for engines and motorcycles, and the building and sale of Buell® 1125R-based race-use-only motorcycles under license from Harley-Davidson, as well as providing technical support to racers of Buell motorcycles. “I’m looking forward to helping Buell racers keep their bikes flying,” said Erik Buell. “We’ve got some exciting race development projects in the works and it will mean a lot to me personally to see Buell racers competing for wins and championships in the 2010 season and beyond.” “I’m pleased that Harley-Davidson is assisting Erik in establishing this business to continue supporting the racing efforts he has had so much passion for over the years,” said Buell President and COO Jon Flickinger. “Harley-Davidson and the Buell Motorcycle Company will always be proud of their affiliation with Erik, and we wish him well in this new endeavor to support Buell racers.” Erik Buell Racing will be based in East Troy, Wisconsin and will be staffed by Erik Buell and a veteran team of personnel. For more information, after December 1, 2009, contact: Erik Buell Racing, LLC 2799 Buell Drive, Unit C East Troy, WI 53120 So now can we keep the HD section?? |

Hmm.... Itilman, that is an interesting report. thanks. It looks bleak a HD right now, and their plan to drop Buell looks like it might have came too late for them in THEIR scheme of things. It appears that they should have done it about six months earlier. Don't get me wrong, I'm PRO Buell, but if Harleys reasoning was to drop Buell to save money right now and lean down things and their solution lied in axing Buell, it looks like too little too late. What I'm reading/gathering with this article is that HD is very near dire straights right now, and their future may be in jeprody, their very existance. |

I'm starting to believe that Buell was shut down because it is non union and that way they could go to their union employees and get bigger concessions. The only way they could make that fly was to shut down Buell completely. About XLforum I go on there every once in a while but everything takes forever to load does anyone else have that problem? |

46champ, I got yelled at for asking about something like that once. The reply had something to do with cement golashes, I figured they'd be too heavy to walk with and said no thanks and departed the discussion. I'm wondering if I'll need to pack marshmellows if I show up on the bagger at a Buell event. Wouldn't want my ride to end up on the bonfire (alluding back to the untold story). What's the difference between politics and religion and motorcycles? Some days, not much. |

Politics moves your money. Religion moves your spirit. Motorcycles move your soul. Hey, I'm going to write that down . . . . |

Does anyone think HD was actually going to move to Kentucky ? I'm sure it was / is a ploy to frighten unions into agreements. From my personal experience with Ford and the big supermarket my wife works for, all companies do it. My personal belief as to why Buell is no longer in production is the fact they were sold through HD shops. They should have been in stand alone or even in with Jap bikes it's a totally different bike to a cruiser, which is why I bought one. HD's problems partly stem from their greed and telling buyers what they want instead of offering what the buyers want. The type of customer HD want buys a new bike every year and all the new motor clothes, but only rides about 2 or 3000 miles, and that's to over priced HOG events. |

The cost/benefit/risk analysis of moving manufacturing to Mexico/China/elsewhere has probably been floated to the Board a few times when financial discussions were happening. But apart from that I'm tired of the heading of this sub-section. I think I'll head back to bicycles and boats for awhile. I don't like being growled at for decisions made outside of my control or because of what I rode up on. |

I don't like being growled at for decisions made outside of my control or because of what I rode up on. +1. I have a V-Rod and an 1125R. Even with the V-Rod I'm still the red-headed stepchild of the Harley group. I don't think twice about riding my 1125R to H.O.G. meetings, but have yet to feel the love! But on the other side, I would hope that my Buell "family" wouldn't cast a dim light on me because I own an HD-badged product and the company happens to be run by morons. |

They dont mind that we dont matter. Its really sick that such an iconic American company continues to slap the American people in the face every day. That is the real problem. |

I can not only say 'Victory,' I can say that the 2010 Vision 8-Ball has replaced the Road Glide Custom on my want list... |
