our Christmas was fantastic...lots of time to just relax and enjoy family, couldn't have been better!

this has been a rough year for my family financially. We're hangining in there. But we're all self-employeed and the economy has hit us hard. However, continually over this past year I have felt very blessed- great family and friends, all my bills are paid and no debt. Even so, we decided not to exchange gifts this year (which was a feat for my mom...she LOVES to shop for us, and goes waaay overboard every year!).

But it struck my girlfriend and I that there are many near us that are much worse off then us. so we took the chance as a family to adopt another family from our church (who was in desperate need) and buy some necessities for them- single mom with 3 kids living in a trailer that the county was moving them out of because no heat or hot water and a mold problem. the kids all needed jackets, boots, hats and gloves, back packs...and of course they need to eat so we also got them a grocery store gift card. we also had a family that our church small group knows and the dad recently lost his job- no severance, no warning, just bought a house, she doesn't make enough to pay the bills herself and they have a 4 year old. so our small group "adopted" them and bought their christmas gifts for them.

all I can say is wow. I feel blessed. if ever you get the chance to take care of someone else, take it! I guess this is what they mean by "it is better to give than to receive"! : )

Merry Christmas to you all!

...and what did you get? : )

We had a pretty slim Christmas this year too. The biggest I got was a RSS for my Firebolt, and that was plenty. My first Christmas with my own family (as in me being Dad) was priceless.

We had a fun family thing this year. I enjoyed it kept the costs down. I think bringing Christmas back to basics is the greatest thing that could have happened.

I agree Brumbear- this may be the best part of the recession! It's actually heart-warming to read stories of families being close as opposed to material things.

congrats Firebolt!!

I got socks, but hey I really did need socks. My little girl got the lions share of gifts and seeing her smile is good enough for me.

I got a shirt that reads "The American Dream" with a picture of an 1125r across it. Plus some Tuono mirrors from American Sport Bike (for the XT) and a couple 'operator canisters' as well.

I also got some cash money, some of which turned into a new battery for the Scg today. Some of which will turn into a spare XT belt, and a second upper handlebar clamp for my Clubman install on the Scg.

I got a new custom t-shirt that says "Famous left handers" with a list of names...mine was in the middle of the list. ...And I got to have dinner with my "family" (my boss and his kin) and hold my "grandson" (not really my grandson...the son of my boss's daughter..I held her when she was born too : )) Is that a God Grandson???

I got a nice bonus and used part of it to buy a heated jacket liner and gloves...the rest went to charity...I bought a bunch of food and donated it to the needy. : )...I'm as happy as an old fart can be.

My birthday will be Friday...what do I buy me for that??? Road trip maybe...go restaurant sampling...find the best plate of fried OKRA maybe...

I was very fortunate, I got too much to list. But with four brothers, two sisters, their families, my dad, girlfriend, her family, well, it just works out that way. But the most awesome thing that I got was flying lessons so I can finally get my pilots license that I've been talking about for a few years.

My wife and daughter bought me a really nice espresso machine and grinder. Still trying to master it, but I'm sitting here right now enjoying a fantastic latte. We had our family's over for a big dinner. That was the best part for me.
