I am attempting to install the Buell air box mask on a 2009 Uly but the mask seems too small. I believe that I am following the instructions correctly. I have put the screws through the metal grommets to hold the mask in place to stretch it over the box but no amount of stretching seems to be able to get it into position. It's like the mask is too small or the grommets are too close together. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?

Is it inside your house where it is nice and warm? It will probably never reach cold for it's first fitting.

Shrinkage!
Yeah, I brought all the parts inside but no dice. I stretched on it till I thought it might damage either the cover or the grommets. I'm not sure what to do next. Heat the mask? It just doesn't seem like it's even close to fitting. I'm not ready to give up yet but for the moment I'm on hold till I can figure out what to do next. I hate when things don't go according to plan
I like the mask and really could make good use of the pocket on it.

Did yours come w/ directions? Ours did not not, but we let it sit out in the sun to make it more pliable and prior to install purchased some heavy duty velcro and placed it on the underside of the airbox to correspond with the "tabs" on the mask. This held it in place and has allowed the mask to shape itself to the airbox.

Hairdryer (on low/med, and don't get it too close). Warm it up good and re-stretch.

If you post a part number for me for your kit, I can see if there's a .pdf instruction sheet I can print out for ya.

If you think *that's* fun...try putting a vinyl cold front (wind blocker) on the radiator of a Dodge diesel. Y'know...a piece of vinyl DESIGNED to be used in the cold? Grrrrr.....and it ain't like THAT's gonna fit in the living room for installation!!!

Froggy, I'll double check the part # after work.
The mask did come with instructions but maybe I overlooked something.
Thanks for the suggestions and offers for help. I look forward to trying the heat after work.
If heat will make the mask stretchy I believe it may fit.
I have been watching this site for several years now and am continually impressed with the support the folks here give to each other. I hope to live up to the example y'all have set. I'm proud to be another member of this family.

Shrinkage, the real reason jeep drivers leave the tops on in the winter.

Success!
Plenty of heat from the hair dryer and lots of tugging and the deed is done.
The new mask looks good on the Blue Beast.
Thanks for the help y'all.
