Dropped my kickstand spring, no big deal right? Well, went to the dealer turns out they have the spring but no spring extension plate. Searched the globe found them and they'll be delivered in a couple of days. I know not a new story, but it would have been real cool if there was an online catalog to use.

Why did they use the D-lock on the spring extension plate? (3) Absolutely useless, I think I would have done that a bit different. Other wise its a good looking kickstand. Just sux I'm using a small bungee cord until the plate come in.

Lost both the spring and the plate. Once the spring goes it allows the plate to swivel and drop off.

A small retention clip/safety clip would have made it more secure. Or a bolt and screw fastener.

Do what I did...
When you put the new stuff in place, safety wire the #5 bracket/C-plate/what ever, to the engine.

That way, the spring lets go, at least the C-plate will be there and just locate a hardware store to help with a usable spring.

Though...I also have a bungee cord in the tail..

Yep, that's exactly what I have in mind.
I plan to never be sidelined so easily. Well at least not in this way. Not a bad mod to do for those who have not had there spring pop. The kickstand upgrade kit is on back order so after hours of shaking the nation down for this dollar part we got lucky and found the plate. BTW it is dealer covered but the headache and down time is not.

"The kickstand upgrade kit is on back order ..." Didn't even know there was one. Where can I find that kit.

Very true, on one of my last bikes (RC51) the entire kickstand assembly fell off.
BTW problem resolved. SD HD fixed the issue, no easy task since all the after market guys bought all the surplus from all the dealers. So everything is on back order, luckily for me we found the spring ext plate here in California.
