I pulled off my carb to check what size jets I had and to see if the needle was shimmed. Upon reassembly I noticed a small bronze cylinder that had a flare on one end. Any ideas where it went? Does anyone have an exploaded view of a CV carb that I can see? Thanks, |

Scm2 - That is to protect the plastic diaphram cover from being over tightened and distorted. It is to be inserted into the screw bore on the top cover under the cable/idle screw bracket. |

So what were the jets, and what about the needle? I just change my slow jet to a 45 today. I recently changed my 200 main to a 190. I'm filing some shims down to .050 for the stock needle, while wondering whether I need them or not. They are about .028 each out of the package. (Message edited by jayvee on December 23, 2009) |

The jets were a 48 and a 155. The needle wasn't shimmed but it does have a Thunder slide kit in it. I'm not sure why there is a 155 in it. From what I've read most people have a 190 to a 200 in theirs. I'm going to get some different jets and see what happens. |

My guess is that a dealership installed the Thunderslide kit and they put the DJ155 jet in. Same thing happened to me back in 2003, before I decided to do all of the work by myself. Dealerships seem to forget that the Buell's make a LOT more power than their Sportster cousins Like you've mentioned, a 190 to 200 jet should be about right. |
