I wouldn't ride it with the broken exhaust, if a front weld breaks the pipe hitting your tire will not be pretty. My vote is also for a muffler shop for the repair. |

Well, I got it and the body is in great shape. It has NO mounts holding the exhaust on. Both front and back are broken off and one exhaust header bolt is sheared off. The PO neglected to tell me about that. I got a decent deal on the bike, but it still pisses me off that he didn't tell me about the bolt. |

About the exhaust header bolt....... If not posessed (sp?) of good mechanical skills and necessary tools, you may want to check around for professional help in getting the broken one out. If you choose to do it yourself, get the drill guide (more important than the drill bit, IMHO) and take your time. Lots of stories of both success and horror here in trying to get the old one out. And given the broken exhaust brackets, I would give serious thought to replacing ALL of the exhaust studs, now. You will have it apart, anyway, so ...... |

A co-worker says he has all the tools and that it's 'easy'(cross fingers) That's a good idea on changing all the studs thanks. Might as well change the gaskets while I'm there too. Anyone have a gasket part number? Are they different with the force headers? thanks ben |
