I need a part number for any oil filter I can buy locally. the one from the local harleyshop didn't fit and I need one asap. only thing open is autozone but they can't look up bikes and my old filter has no numbers or anything on it | ||

Yes, several will work. I use a Purolator Pure One PL-30001, which is an oversize and holds 3/4 quart more oil. | ||

Ask for a Dyna Wide Glide filter. They are the longer version that holds more. | ||

Do a search. Someone had posted a list of ALL filters which could be substituted for the HD filter...Fairly long list. I'll see if i could find it for you. | ||

Outdoors, the Purolator filter collectively is the best performing filter available, based on the independent study I read. It's filtration ability is slighty less than The Amsoil filter, but the Amsoil filter has very low flow rate compared to the other oil filters. If you change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles, it's really not gonna matter a lot on brand. I use Amsoil 20-50 and this filter and change every 6,000 miles or so. The PL30001 is a litre shorter tha. The dyna filter, but is quite larger diameter. I think they hold close to the same, maybe a little more in the Purolator. You can get them in 2 colors- rough grip yellow and gloss blue. I have the yellow because my bike used to be yellow. | ||
