Hey guys. Just got the bike back together after a paint session (will post pics once I get them off the camera)and went for a checkout ride. Rode out 5 miles or so, no worries, adjusted the idle once I stopped, all is well. Didn't need the enrichener on the way home, so, I checked it was pushed all the way in. Got home, shut down the bike, it was surging a little coming back. Once It was shut down, walked away for a few minutes, and noticed gas dripping out of the bottom of the forcewinder, there drips were coming off from where it meets the carb (99 cyclone) I shut off the gas at the valve, and stuffed a t-shirt in to stop the flow, it was dripping onto the exhaust. For the next few minutes, there was a wierd bubbling sound every 10 seconds or so, and if I opened the throttle, the bubbling got loud. I popped the gas cap, and still the same noise. I held the throttle open, and it bubbled until it stopped. About a half hour later, turned the gas back on. No drips. Started the bike, let it idle (gripping my fire extinguisher tightly), and shut down after a few minutes idling, and a couple of low rev ups. No leaks. Any ideas? I'm a bit hesitant to go for another run without doing anything, just painted the bike, and would hate to leave it in a fireball in an intersection. Thanks (Message edited by cthulhu on December 12, 2009) |

Leaking gas stop needle isn't keeping proper float bowl level? Remove the carb - seperate bottom bowl and inspect. |

Opened the carb, and cleaned/blew out the little stop-flow area that the float pushes up. The whole inside of the carb in that area was very clean. Got it back together, and it did not leak. Out of there. Now it's leaking out of the accelerator pump push rod area. The diaphragm for the accelerator pump has a tear. Grrrrrrrrrrr. 15 bucks for the little diaphragm at the local stealership. I made an executive decision, and decided to make the switch to the Mikuni sooner than planned Thanks for the help. You seemed to have been spot on. |

You blocked off the pump? I thought that the accelerator pump was a good thing. |
