I picked up a Contour HD video camera. Solid state, Micro SD camera with mounts for helmet or bike. It has 2 modes, either HD 970p @ 26 fps or SD @ 30fps.
I mounted it up on the helmet and went out for a ride on the CR on Hwy 125 in Missouri.
Here is the iPod format of the video. I am working on uploading the full res to youtube.
Broke my collar bone on that rode down near swan creek. Was doing about 60 MPH on a Honda Interceptor and wiped out on a curve. Rookie mistake. Very good road though. Goes through the Twain National Forest on the south end. Makes me miss Missouri!
I thought I missed CA roads until I bought my 09R and purposefully got lost here in S/W Missouri (Ozarks). Turns out there are some NICE sportbike country highways around here, and hardly a cager in sight. I like the M & U intersection area (Jamesville, old church on the corner), and taking U down to A and riding to the river. There's a little Hwy N (Boaz) that connects K & M as well, pretty cool little run. Nice vids guys!!
I really like the Contour HD camera as well. I am still deciding the purchase as the wind noise is a very dominant con of the whole package. After doing some research I found a guy who used a earplug to reduce the wind noise levels dramatically. Here is his write-up:
In addition to the earplug foam he used to aid with the wind I would also line the inner housing with a good quality microphone windscreen instead of the low density foam.
The video quality of the Contour is top notch and I feel that with a little creativity and persistence you could eliminate a lot of the wind noise.
