I bought a 2007 XB9R that took a hit to the front and broke the ecm. The part number on it is Y0152.3A8 and 06264. The bike has a stock air filter and muffler, with no plans to change them right away.

Ian has been trying to help me, but his stock ecm is from an '03 9R, and it seems that the '02-03 units won't work on the later bikes.

I have an '05 Firebolt shop manual, and BOTH the XB9R and XB12R in the manual have the same part number of Y0152.3A8....the same number stamped on my dead box.

My question is: what years & models have ecm's that would work properly on my bike? Right now I'm thinking '04-07 XB9 units will work. Will the '04-07 XB12 boxes work as well? If not, why do they carry the same part number in the manual? Also, do the last 5 digits (06264) mean anything? Do they need to match my numbers?

Lastly, do any of you have an ecm laying in a drawer that you would part with (or fairing stay, front axle, headlight assembly, red fender, or gauge face)? I appreciate your help!

Took a hit to the front and broke the ECM? I thought the ECM was under your ass? Or did it do a flip over a car and landed on its seat? Even then, I don't think it would break. But if the part numbers are the same then the ECMs should be the same, whether or not one came off a different model.

Depending on the model of your bike, its either below the seat, in the front fairing, or under the left radiator pod. On a Ninja its right behind the plastic you drill holes in to relocate your license plate. : )

On my firebolt, it is mounted under the front fairing behind the headlight housing. The front fairing took a good jolt and broke pretty much everything up front. The mounting ears broke off the ecm as well as the plug connectors.....

Probably no fixing to that ECM but I'll take a look if you want to send it to me. If you were really luck just the black plastic part of the connector is broken. If you are normal that board is in a very sad shape since there are a lot of traces around that black connector.

I have a Uly ECM that I'll probably be sending back to the owner shortly, if I had a never going to work again replacement I'll send it back sooner. Wanted to make sure I had all the pictures and chip part numbers written down before I put it back together and send it back for testing. Either I can make yours work again, or you will be benefiting all of us from the teardown. Depending on the shape it is in I might be able to recover the programming for you.

Greg, if you want to give it a shot, I'm game. Maybe you can learn something from it. I'll send you a pm and you can email your address.

The black connector is pretty much broken loose from the rest of the ecm, so I'd say it's probably in very sad shape.
