I'd like a custom (Jardine, Drummer, etc) muffler for my 2009 XT. I'm mostly interested in performance not noise. What would you guys suggest? | ||

I did read the shootout, seems the race muffler is the best but I don't think there available. Also can you jack up your bike if using the aftermarket mufflers? | ||

Jackable mufflers - Drummer, Special Ops, Race pipe, some others Non-jackable - Jardine, Micron, D&D, some others. If you are willing to wait a bit you can snag a race pipe, they pop up on ebay all the time. Personally I would go with the Micron, its easily the one of best pipes for the XB. | ||

One other thought, I'm a metal fabricator, could I just gut a stock muffler and get better performance/sound? I think that's what Drummer does. | ||

Go with a Drummer. Best overall pipe. No need to tune your bike also, but you still could if you wanted. Drummer and Spec Ops both use the stock can. I imagine that both Drummer and Spec Ops just don't gut the stock can, throw on an end cap, paint, and then sell. There's more to it than that. I know Drummer has tested/dyno'd his pipes to get it where its at now. (Message edited by boney95 on November 03, 2009) | ||

Are Force exhaust systems worth the cost? Considering its a whole 200$ more than a carbon fiber Jardine I'd just as soon save another 200$ and get a Force. I've heard you need earplugs when standing next to a bike with a Force system, but haven't heard anything performance wise, anybody have one? | ||

You sure you don't mean Ti-Force? The Force exhaust is for tubers. I have seen a Ti-Force in person, but never heard it. It looks bad ass.  | ||

 No no no, I meant Force. They make them for tubers and XBs. Those Ti-force systems are like 1000-1200 bucks compared to Force's 650 bucks. (Message edited by mudinmyvaynes on November 15, 2009) | ||

The Force system can produce a lot of power if mapped correctly...not really "plug and play" for max power tho. And yes, they are loud! Makes the Jardine seem quite, scares women and children, etc. | ||

Scares women and children...lol, I've gotta get me a Force system. I'm used to ridiing my 1200 Sportster(was an 883 but got a hell of a deal on a 1200 sportster engine) with SikPipes, basically open headers. So I'm used to LOUD, but being a pyrotechnician I've had my eardrums break a couple times, so I'm practically deaf of sorts. Can't beat the 650 asking price though, I'd rather have a Ti-Force system, like a full Micron system but I'm not shelling out 1200 bucks for a damn exhaust system. |
