Hi to all well I made my decision on an exhaust and I must say. It was a toss up between the HR1 and FMF pipe. What did it for me was the weight and lifetime guarantee on packing which is made of fiberglass in the Hr1. The weight of the can is 3lbs plus whatever the aluminized piping they send with it. Pipe will be a black can with red tip. 2 year warranty on the can. Also Jake at HR1 has told me Power Commander will be a making a Tuning device called Power Commander 5 for our Buell's. He is a dealer for Power Commander. Dont know the exact time for release but probably sometime in 2010 this is due to come out. www.hardrockmotorsports.com/ More pics on you tube of an 08 1125r it is a loud sound and it can be adjusted. The factory sets the sound at wide open. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRcpG9F3BXo (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 17, 2009) (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 17, 2009) (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 17, 2009) |

I was told by FMF on the phone, that the slip-on is designed to work with the stock bike. "No tuning needed." "Bolt on." "Will not run lean." |

Call them back and ask how long the packing lasts? Then post your answer I was told 20 hours. |

I'm also not implying that Hr1 will run lean as to where it will be a problem. I was told the same thing from HR1 and FMF that the pipe does not need tuning. Tuning will obviously help more and I just wanted to throw that out there that people have been looking for tuning devices and there is only a few for the bike. |

That is great news Freezer. I'd emailed DynoJet twice last year and they said they were not going to make a PC3 or 5 for our bike. I'm glad to hear they changed their minds. If you get a date from your dealer please, please, please post it up. I'm planning to use a PC3 for an Ape and tweek it for the 11, but if it is only a few months away I'll wait. |

Kinda funny. If anyone thinks a free'er flowing exhaust doesn't require a retune, you're kidding yourself. And if someone told you this "fact"...you just got smoke blown up your.......... All you have to do is think about it for...what maybe six seconds. These bikes run lean from the factory..! The "learning" mode in the ECM...will "at best"....bring it back to the factory lean tuneup. Believe me, there is much more to be had with a good fuel and timing tuneup. Mike |

When you say "FMF pipe is on back order", do you mean the slip-on or the full system? Tx! KeS |

Yes Mike I agree it was a little hard to believe. I did however did hear that someone was running an FMF with the most current Flash and so far the bike is running well. Power Commander 5 will be coming out shortly I will tell Jake to email me when he has them. I dont discount the bike will need some type of tuning for optimum results. I know this until I get some tuning I am not installing a K&N filter. |

I was just down at the FMF factory and I held an FMF slip on in my hands yesterday they told me they had plenty. Just called yep it is confirmed with Nole they had about 10 they are all sold out until Dec. 2nd. Whoever the other guy was that told me the packing lasts only 20 hours needs to a better job of knowing the pipe. Nole told me 10,000 to 15,000 miles on the bike. None the less I like the guys at Hr1 better they seem to know their product better. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 17, 2009) |

Just called Jake myself and he said feel free to call and ask any questions you may have. He probably can work something out on price for you guys. Important to note. Let them know the year and build date. At one point Buell did change the header design in some 08 bikes. Aluminized pipe is about 1/2 the cost of 304 stainless. Hmm, a pipe that will rust within 2-3 years or one that won't for at least 10. $700? Wow. |
