Regarding the front brake issue... Is there a DIY high handlebar kit installation on the bikes medical chart? |

I once knew a guy that bought a pie that he later claimed was too big to eat...he tried everything he could think of to get the bakery to take the pie back and return his money......should have bought the tart...it was all he could eat. |

Carter, What mileage are you getting to consider it "poor"? When the 08 models first came out the mileage was pretty bad, mostly around upper 20's. With the current ECM programming, most people average mid-30's. Of course that's not great compared to small displacement bikes, but it's not far off from large displacement sportbikes from all manufacturers. |

Mine needed rear turn signals, I got them to flash it while they had it, but frankly it rode fine. I denoided it cause I'll control my own noise thanks. Other than that only problem I have is self discipline, and that could be a serious problem. The code should be easy to fix, and my buddies Kawasaki Versys smells of gas and drips sometimes. They're not perfect. My clock runs fast. I'll give it a bit and then get HD to replace the cluster. Sounds to me like one or more pads were sticking. They get hot from dragging, things start to grow, it gets worse. Just a guess without seeing the bike. Part of the problem is the high concentration of owners here and just like RB said problems will surface 10:1 over compliments. Clutch cover leak and false neutrals are new on me, sounds like they improved the seal. I have no clue on the false neutrals other than make sure the shifter is adjusted correctly for you. Mine shifts like flipping a switch. Just clicks right in, in fact mine is finicky about going into neutral! To the OP I'm sorry it you're having so many issues, but under arbitration they have to be allowed on attempt to fix all known issues, least that's the way it is with cars. Good luck, let us know how it goes! |

Here's the way I read it. Item 5: Dismissed Caliper issues are off the list now since you did the work. You now have that liability, not HD. Item 1: Dismissed You're getting overflow and being told not to overfill. You scoff at their advice. Neither of you have given identifiable benchmarks. Scratch that off your list. Items 2,3,4: Dismissed Issues that are perhaps tied together. They will need time to work on it. You've already said that the dealers were helpful. They're entitled to reasonable time to resolve the problem. You'll have to be patient while your helpful dealers work on them. |

Mike, I understand your fears and hope my story helps. I bought my bike 08 1125 r about a week after the dealership received them. I live over a hundred miles from nearest dealer and am a flight nurse who is frequently away from home. Needless to say this is more than a minor hassle when I need work done. I had several problems at first. The clutch leaked, had to have the instrument cluster changed and my speed sensor failed twice, had the recalls fixed, and finally the flashes done. The last work was done months ago and many thousands of miles ago. It has been rock solid since. I love this bike so much that despite my early hassles and difficulty getting to the dealer I had no qualms about buying a Ulysses after oct 15th. I would bring the bike to the dealer and introduce yourself and your situation. Ask them to check that all flashes are up to date and that all recalls have been done. I think you will find the bike is pretty bullet proof once this work has been done. Enjoy your ride. |

Legal advice from a non-lawyer: If you're going to take legal action, then contact an attorney, STFU, and let him do his job. Starting threads like this is just sabotaging anything that the attorney could do for you. Every message stating that you are being unreasonable, immature, and speculating on your motives (e.g., mad that you paid full price) could be read aloud in court and printed out in 128 point and displayed on an easel in front of the jury. You say the wrong thing here, and it ends up being brought out in court and torpedoing your case. |

Like Rat said, happy people don't post. My CR is running great. Zero problems. My XT also great....a couple of issues in the first year but all resolved, That's what warranty is for. Are SOME of the dealers slow at fixing things? Yup you bet ya. Just like some car dealers are better then others. |

Can we trade bikes then? I want the ghost neutral feature, it sure as hell would make coasting easier than grabbing the clutch. |

Max, Extended warranty is up to you, really. There's a thread here recently discussing the pros and cons. How many miles a year do you ride? How mechanically inclined are you? Etc. Etc. Personally I don't usually opt for the extended warranty, but there are good reasons to do so chief among them peace of mind. Tire/Road Hazard insurance has it's benefits, too. Taco-ing a rim on a pothole could be expensive. Your dealer will be able to tell you if everything is up to date. If you just picked it up it should have the latest of everything, but you never know. Did you get a sheet showing recalls and updates at purchase time? As for things to look out for, rear turn signals, gas from the vent after shutoff, and speeding tickets seem to be the most common complaints. Signals are a warranty issue, gas from the vent seems to lessen after break-in, or you could just get the CA evap. canister, and the speeding tickets, well? I'm not a dealer employee or a HD employee but IIRC modifying the bike will void the warranty on the modified part only, so if you put an aftermarket exhaust on it, it's not covered. There have been cases in the past, however, where warranty coverage was denied because it was claimed the aftermarket modification caused the issue - i.e. exhaust caused a lean condition, which caused detonation, which caused the piston to melt. It's the Internet, don't know how true any of it is, but again best to check with the dealer since they're the one's you'll deal with for any warranty work. |

>>>I did not get a yellow sheet about recalls etc... Nor will you. What the heck is a "yellow sheet"? The dealer is required to make sure any recalls are completed. I am aware or no requirement that they provide a list of them. But . . the are easy to get on the NHTSA website. |

Court, I wasn't implying there is a requirement to provide a "yellow sheet" (I never mentioned "yellow") just asking if Max was ever shown a "preflight" or "prep" sheet showing that all recalls/TSB work was done prior to him riding off? I was shown (but didn't get a copy of) such a piece of white paper by Ryan at Liberty. Not required, but a nice touch. Of course, as I mentioned before, Liberty are the folks that discovered the swingarm recall had never been done to my 95 S2 in 2007. So I expect that level of service from them. They're good people. |

For the record...you can go to ANY HD/Buell dealer with your VIN and have a history pulled that includes warranty status, in-service date, and applicable recalls with "open" or "complete" listed on each one. It's on H-Dnet. The link in the 'toolbox' is called Vehicle Information. |
