Every year since i bought my Buell I've had the rear shock leak oil come winter. First I bought a second hand one which turned out to be empty as well. I then sent mine of to be reconditioned. This was fine until last winter until it happened again. I then sent the 2nd shock in to be fixed. This has lasted until now. Now its leaking again. Whats the deal? Anyone else have this happen. I assume it has something to do with winter temperatures even though its still Autumn here.

mine is still leaking as well. Of course the dealers deny it, so I can't get it fixed or replaced.

for my own information, how do you know if its empty or too low?

Ive heard that once you see oil, the gas has already gone therefore its F&^%$ed. Apparently they are of the "unrepairable" type. I found a service guy who can repair the "unrepairable" type rear suspension. Seems to only last a year though.

I cant afford to go Ohlins etc. thinking about a Jap-bike equivilent.

Finding a replacement jap shock shouldn't be a problem. Only issue is that 99% of the jap shocks don't have the remote reservoir. Might be a clearance issue with the piggyback up near the upper shock mount.

They're Showa shocks.

Google rebuild or search on here. Some people have had successes with rebuilds.
