Will a 2010 12X kickstand retrofit to my 06? Cost?? I only ask because twice I've practically had my bike topple over the foot of my stand on trips when it was fully toploaded with gear. Only happened because I parked the bike on a surface that was downhill slanted to the left of the bike. Last time I sprained my ankle but was able to muscle the bike from falling. Felt like it weighed a ton and damned near killed me in the process of keeping it from going over. The newer kickstand looks like it has a foot that would help keep that from happening. The first time it happened was on a gravel road in the Black Hills and that time the handlebars actually twisted forward and I had to readjust them but I kept the bike from flipping. Felt like I was Atlas hefting the earth over my head. Don't want to have that happen again...ever. |

Why not a Touratech Kick Stand Support Extension: http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/search.lasso?Sea rchTerm=380-0030 . |

EG- I'm pretty sure the stand will work. They actually changed the design in 09, if not 08. It looks like a definite improvement. |

I just put an '10 sidestand (bigger, longer footprint) on my '08 Uly (small footprint) IT IS GREAT! Sand, dirt, soft grass - it's all good now! For an '06, I think you need to change out the sidestand bracket that bolts to the engine as well. Something about the angle ... you might want to check with the parts folks to be sure. For '08 and up, you just need to swap out the sidestand leg (p/n L0167.AVB $40). |

I happen to have one of the new sidestand mounting brackets. New in the bag. It has 3 bolt holes. |

All good motorcycle side stands have a good foot for spreading the weight out which the later ULYs have and the 06/07 doesn't. If my ULY would have had the newer "better" stand I wouldn't have had two close calls. My 06 stand is more like a bicycle stand than a motorcycle stand. Hopefully this is something that the dealer can order for me in this new Buell Gone environment. Thanks for all the comebacks. |

If the footprint is the problem why not just weld on a little bigger foot? The new mount is a 3 bolt pattern. The old style is 2 bolt. I don't know if it can be bolted on with 2 bolts only (very likely) or if drilling and tapping the third bolthole is even an option. I can't immagine they changed the case casting for the 3 bolt mount. Drilling and tapping aluminum is a piece of cake, right up till oil comes out. Then there is the expense of the kickstand assembly... |

I put an XT stand on my '06 X a while ago, no issues. |

Like Johnboy said - the touratech food works great! Rattles a bit but I don't hear it with earplugs or at speed. Now I don't have to look for a flat beer can, or other road debris, to park the Uly. |

Here's another BadWebber's pic of the 3-bolt bracket on his 2-bolt Uly:
You need to be careful that it sits flush to the case, you can see the third bolt hole tab rides high here. |

We need a photo just like that from a 2010 ULY. Those bolts look they came from a hardware store. I'll bet they a loctited in place real well. |

Interesting update that we never heard about. That has to make the kickstand base much more secure to have that third bolt. Judging from that photo it'd be very difficult to drill and tap a hole to add the third bolt to an earlier Uly. Buell was damn sure good about making regular incremental improvements in these bikes. I'm telling you EG, in 2011 the muffler would have been stainless... |

If I kept bringing it up it maybe would have been changed to SS. Still in the mourning process here. |
