Yea yea...a Uly is a sport bike...EXCEPT in the winter! I a severely buffeted by the wind coming up over the sides of the tank. I figure a couple blades on the forks will do (I have a large windshield). When I block that air just on one side with my left hand...aaahhhh, nice! A tank bag might help but...tell me...anybody find a nice pair of plastic wings that fit and work? Appreciate hearing... |

Memphis Shades has lowers. I forgot the part number, but do a search and it should show up. Should be around the June/July time frame. |

I made a pair from a square foot of polycarbonate I got on sale a Menards for about 8 bucks. Attached them to the forks like you're planning. Thing that is nice about polycarbonate or LEXAN is that it won't shatter like acrylic will. Polycarbonate is the way to go whether you buy the wings already made or make them yourself. Memphis Shades uses Lucite which is a brand name of an acrylic. Acrylic will shatter and has the potential of cutting your head or limbs off. I've shattered acrylic while cutting on it and I can see that it would be very dangerous in a crash. You can blast polycarbonate with a shotgun and the worst that will happen is that it will get a hole in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsls5ZPCUnE |

Glen, No I didn't. I made them for my son's ULY and they blend in with the Slipstreamer Hellfire windshield I modified to fit his bike. They work well but they were a first effort and I will do better next time. Sometime in the future I'm going to get a 3/16th in thick sheet of polycarbonate and make windshield that flows down into deflectors so that it is one piece. It will be similar to Etennuly's masterpiece BigAssWindshield but of my own design. Probably a winter project. |

I might order the Memphis Shades if I knew which of our advertisers had them. In making a pair, Electro's Lexan/Polycarb input is good. The thought of a piece of acrylic embedded in my thigh not good. However...the rubber-lined clamp Palmer uses on their light bracket looks kinder to our shocks than a hose clamp...anyone seen a source for those? If I could get the clamping down then I could play with different sized "wings". Thank you guys for writing. Let's ride. |
