First off, if you do not have the factory shop manual get one. Especially now. Worth every cent and will save you $$. And I do not mean that bootleg CD some schmo tries to sell on ebay... Had a charging issue few weeks ago and was diagnosed, by me using the manual, as a faulty voltage regulator. Thank G-d it was not that stator, much easier to fix. If you need to change your regulator on a pre-08 (I think, maybe '09?) XB be prepared to also change the 77 connector as a new pin type type is on the new regulator. Have read before the 77 connector is not worth much and now I see why. Anyway, the revised part number for the regulator w/connectors is: Y1302.02A8 VOLTAGE REGULATOR KIT W/CONNECTORS You will need a crimp tool as well. Just another excuse for more tools.... |

It should be noted the kit you posted contains a new improved "77" connector for the stator side too, hence the need for a crimping tool. |

I just changed regulator on my 07 firebolt. It was very easy and im not that mechanically inclined. 10 dollar crimper and thin nosed pliers. Perfect crimp. Apparently there is no certain way to check if the regulator is faulty. If i knew that when i did the change i might have just tried to change the connectors first (mine was a little bit melted...a little as in: just a little bit pregnant) |
