I'm copying this to both the XB and the 1125 forums as the seat fits both (so don't feel like you have to answer in both forums ).

1. Does the Custom Seat material match the stock passenger pillion? Or is the vinyl different looking?

2. Can the plastic tail section cover fit over the Custom Pillion?

3. How do owners feel about the comfort of the Custom Seat?

4. Are there any problems (fit, longevity, appearance, etc.)?

Thanks to all who answer.

2) No
3) Much better than stock

I have some 10K miles on my custom seat (XB9R) with zero issues. Can not tell if there is any wear at all, and has kept its shape quite well. Much better than stock, and more than worth the cost.

Make sure you get the seat pegs from American Sportbike as it makes removal of the seat (stock or custom) so much easier. I assume the 1125's use those nutty torx screws to hold the seat in place.

My wife likes the touring pillion seat; 600 miles two weekends ago, no complaints. She says it is much more comfortable than the Corbin - Gunfighter we had on the previous bike.

Thanks!

Yes, they do use the same torx screws. I just imagine Erik Buell saying "it doesn't affect handling, weight, or power, so let the intern figure out how to mount the seat."

American Sport Bike sells sort of a "quick disconnect" retention kit for these seats. Al says the stiffer foam on the Custom Seat makes it much harder to access the torx screws:

+1 on the quick disconnect kit,... it's amazing how much easier it makes my life!

I just got my seat today and I will be ordering the quick disconnect kit. The thicker seat makes it much harder to install those screws and when you put them back in, its a fight not to cross thread them. The seat is bliss though. Cant wait to put a couple hundred miles on it.
