So I am sure I'm overpaying, I'll say that off that bat, as I know many of you do your own stuff.

I'm to chicken, lol

Anyway! I'm supper stoked! Just bought the 06 bike (2400 miles) and have put about 400 miles on it. I know I should have gotten it serviced right away, but I was enjoying it to much!

So I took it in today to just have the 5K service on it, felt that one had everything I really need to have checked and done. I just put the Special OPS pipe on it so I asked if they offered the/a "flash" for the ECM. The guy smiled and said they could flash it with a 4 hour dyno! SOLD!

So They are gonna put a high flow filter and 07 airbox cover and make me a custom flash for my bike. I should have it back on Monday! Just had to share with some people that understand how exciting it is!

Are "they" a Buell dealership? What tuning software did they say they use? Be sure that they dont just reflash your ecm with a factory download and charge you for dyno time.

whats is the going rate for dyno tuning? i was quoted $300 flat rate but if my bike was reflashed that they would charge an extra $250 for a key

Hard to say about a going rate. If we tune with ECM spy or some other device we charge $85.00/hr and most times it takes about three hours.Depends on the bike, the equipment and the tuning software. I'm not sure what the "key" is that people are charging and extra $250 for-ECM spy is free and the compiled spreadsheets I've seen are $80. We include developing the new map in the dyno charge. If you know of another product, please let me know. The Buell race setup is only available to licensed racers and runs $775.

They are charging me near $400. They give it a 4 hour Dyno run. I asked if I should bring in my spy cable or get a flash program from Odie for the exhaust. He said no, every bike is different so this dyno run would be just for my bike to make it run it's best. I didn't even know they had a dyno so I'm really Stoked! When I asked he said I also get all the spread sheets to go with it, to show off, lol. I didn't ask for a "key/flash drive"......should I?

Before the dyno I'm getting the buell high flow filter, 07 airbox and they are doing the 5000 mile tune per my request and switching to synthetic.

It is a Buell dealer, Hals' Harley which is a sponser here at Bad Web........which is the biggest reason I go to them. For just about everything. Bud's a good guy and they all seem to know their stuff.

plus I get my bike washed, lol......I hate scrubbing those wheels!

Im also planning to have mine tuned fairly soon. Just saving up the $$$.

I will ask my local shop when I go in next time if they will do it, but my current plan is to have JT and S tuning in Sonoma do it.

He said $300 for the tune, $250 for the key (its an 09...) and that before hand I should get a K&N filter as well as do the breather reroute mod.

Theodore, of course they've had a dyno for ages. Hals has been a huge race sponsor for years. And was actually instrumental in the now defunct XBRR program.

You wont get any "key" from Hals. They are using ECM Spy to tune your bike, which doesn't require a key.

They have TONS of experience with Buell tuning. Probably more than anyone else. Dating back to the tuber days.

When are you bringing your bike in there?

Hal's are good people, and really know Buells.

While you are in there, and they are taking stuff apart, you might just as well have them throw on one of their competition chain conversion swing arms.

Gives you a bit more wheel base, and the ability to change final drive ratios.

Looks like this. Sorta. One or two other mods as well.

Bike is already sitting there! Just waiting for the Buell high flow air filter and the 07 inner air box cover to arrive.

Kevin said they should have it all done by this Monday!

@ gentleman_jon...........I've tossed around the idea of a chain.....but to be honest the idea of a no mess no worry belt was one of the things I loved about the buell. 90% of my driving is city, with my lack of mechanical skills, and that I've never been to the track, I don't know that the extra work/mess is worth it.

When the snow starts to stay on the roads I'm yanking the tires and I think a couple other easily removeable pieces and getting them powdercoated to match the frame. My bike will then be more of the dark gray rather then black.

bike didn't get washed yet so they figure I can pick it up tommorrow.

I did find out the dyno #'s!

"the dyno sheet is with the paperwork (88 hp 78 lbft torque"

i'm guessing this is rear wheel as a stock 06 12xb has more then that, right? Are these good numbers compared to stock or any sportbike? I actually have no idea.

What is standard?

I'm curious what the OPS pipe, high flow filter, 07 airbox, and dyno tune did over the stock numbers........

Thats your tuned numbers?

My 09 put down 86hp, its stock with just a drummer and was running SUPER lean, and that was with one spark plug from the lawn mower section of Walmart (don't ask).

I have heard around 90 is normal for a stock bike...

Looking forward to hearing how the bike feels though, thats more important then peak numbers...

I am getting ready to do the breather reroute on my bike but then I will need to save up a bit more before I can afford the dyno time... Right before hitting the dyno I am going to complete the package with the open airbox mod and a high flow filter.

They had asked if I wanted the open air breather mod... But to be honest the "have fun account" is now running low so I had to stop with what I had.

I'm just really nervous that all this money will be worth it.

Open air breather mod? If you mean breather reroute then dont worry about it. Easy to do, cheap if you dont want a billet catch can (I am planning to get one when I do the mod) and it shouldnt effect the tuning much at all...

I'd look into a less expensive DIY as from what I hear its the best way to get more throttle response and down low power.

The best bang for the buck (again, if you get a billet catch can it isnt as inexpensive).

Keep in mind that Dynos vary quite a bit.
Hals tends to be on the conservative side.

well........I'll find out sometime this afternoon, that's when it's suppost to be done.

The mod they were talking about is the one where you delete the black upper inner air box AND then do the required re-route as well.

I tried doing a search for the breather re-route. But I'm not finding anything. Can you link it to me?

Scroll down the page and you will see the Drummer kit, there is a link to the instructions with pictures. Seems pretty simple to do and a mod that I'll probably do in the spring:

JTS performance does good work. On my 1250 kit for my X1, I ended up with 114 rwhp and 133 at the motor.

I'm very happy with the riding results.

I have amazing sound, great power band, and smooth as glass delivery.

It's a fantastic ride. I don't know how much was the parts, dyno, or 5K service I had performed. But it's making for a fun ride.

Greg... Custom catch can is pretty easy from what I have seen...

I plan to get the Billet can from American Sport Bike (looks identical to the Drummer) as I like supporting Al, it looks nice, I have some birthday spending money and dont want to fuss around with a DIY setup right now...

But you can definetly do a custom DIY setup for probably under $20 (well the filter is a bit more but you could get a cheap subsitute)...
