Hey, I'm sure this has been asked before so if you could just link me to the thread that would be great. I'm wondering what the exhact difference between the stock ECM and the race only ECM are and what gains you have with either. How do each of them re-map and where do they apply better? |

I believe it is basically just a map that is less friendly to the environement. Stock runs the bike slightly lean, and WAY lean with a pipe and intake mods. The race ecm will richen it up so that it runs nicely and makes more power with the modified intake and exhaust. A custom map would do the same thing. |

I understand from reading here: 1) Typical Factory race ecm is tuned to work with Factory's race muffler. 2) There is something like a Factory "licensed racer only" version race ecm, too. It's adjustable with software & hardware for re-tuning. 3) Buell ecm fits particular years-models. I don't mix-up hardware or software across those years-model versions. 4) Earlier ecm versions are accessible via ECM Spy software, computer, and computer to bike cable. Trouble-shooting, maintenance, and retuning of ecm and its system/sensors are available via software. Where's a FAQ when you want one? : ) |
