I'm at the point of making some self made foot controls out of billet aluminum. My question is about an adjustable peg on the shifter side. I have long feet, so I want to increase the distance between the foot peg and the shifter peg. I know a longer arm will increase the leverage on the shifter, and directly transfer all the way to the shifting forks. Do I need to worry about trans damage if I extend the lever about .25 inches. I just want to get the peg off of the bone right behind my big toe. Makes my shoes look funny after a while with a hole just below my laces. I dont feel like I have a whole lot of control with the peg riding above the ball of my foot. I have missed a couple of shifts because my boot slipped past the peg. I dont know if this has ever been asked or what, so any input is appreciated. |

I wouldn't expect it to be an issue unless you really slam those gears, and even then, seems like you'd have to be slamming it all the way to the top/bottom. Even when I ride hard, I don't lift/push all the way. ~SM |

If you want to increase the distance between the foot peg and the shifter peg, I think you'd want to shorten the shift lever not lengthen it, right? Perhaps a better setup for one with long feet would be rearset foot pegs. That way you needn't worry about altering shift linkage leverage ratios. |

Which footpegs are you running? You could put on the Lightning pegs and drop an inch, or you could mount up the Ulysses peg brackets to get a few more inches. |

Sparky, you are correct about shortening. I also think you are right about doing rearset footpegs, instead of changing the shift lever. I'll let my brain work on that one for a bit. |

I run the Lightning pegs. I have plenty of room with those pegs, and a select seat. I'm also considering a stock size shift lever, with a longer peg on it. It will probably help to get more of my foot under it. Part of the purpose of this is to put bearings in where the bushings are. My shifter lever flops around more than I think it should. |

Now, a brake pedal with different adjusting points would be something I'd be interested in. I've got the 9R with the lower pegs but I can't lower the brake pedal far enough without cutting the master cylinder bolt. |

I'm working on that too. |
