i have an 08 R and i love it but the one thing i could wish for is more tightness and predictability out of my front brake. not only is there a slight gap between pulling in the lever and where the braking starts, the brake feels very abrupt. like how on a 600 the front brake lets you just kinda dial in how much deceleration you want. i've bled the brake line a couple times to see if that was it but never helped. have any one you tried the brembo master cylinder or the another aftermarket mc and caliper and had improved results? |

I've experienced the same thing on my '09. I've gotten used to it, so it's really a non-issue for me now, but I am a lover of a very firm brake lever. The one on the bike works fine, and I can stoppie the bike with control. But that initial travel takes some getting used to. |

The master cyl is uprated on the RR bike. There's also the 6mm rotor and 5mm finned rotor from the product cat. 6mm is about warpage prevention, 5mm finned is about feel. Check the buell site. You could always get the 6mm rotor, fin it yourself, and change the master cyl. |

does the 08 R come with the ztl-2 caliper and master cyl that is mentioned in the catalog? if so does that mean that the brembo is the only master cyl to go with? i heard that the brakes on the 2010 are a lot better, firm. does anyone know what they've done to get better feel on the '10? |

Anyone with a soft lever should check to make sure that it doesn't need bleeding. I rode for over a year before I bled mine. I guess the dealer missed the soft lever on PDI--surprise! It made a great deal of difference. |

You can try the Lyndal Gold pads. They give a more progressive feel. You can get them from American Sport Bike. |

the first improvment we made was to the front brake...went with the NISSIN front master cylinder, Motul race brake fluid...EBC extreme brake pads....MAJOR IMPROVMENT!!!..we have the the smaller brake line..2 mil i believe..but have felt a need to use it..the R1 brembo also works |

I was thinking of grabbing an R1 Brembo. Front brake POWER is excellent with the stock setup, but FEEL is lacking. Anyone try an R1 Brembo? ac |

That would add about 6 LBs to the front unsprung weight. For a street bike it makes no sense. I don't see it making sense for a race machine either. For race, go with the factory setup that helped Danny Eslick win the DSB championship. |

Never mind, you're just talking about the master cylinder. Duh. |

jersey, is this what yall went with? http://grandstanddesigns.com/shop/index.php?l=prod uct_detail&p=53 its a bit pricey so i think i'll try the new seal for the mc with some new pads and see if that gives any improvement. if not i guess i'll just have to throw down on the brembo |

Is it worth the extra bread for the billet piece, or just get the cast? |

I use ZTL2 on my 2006Ss with Brembo 19RCS with 18mm leverage. Pretty firm. |

Try bleeding the brakes. This usually helps the feel of the brakes. |

YEP...we have a BREMBO master cyclnder on the street...but the one we use is off a stock R1 . ...the one grandstand sells top notch !! the nissin master is straight from BUELL(on our race bike)..it's also a radial..less expensive and it works very well...i would recommend any of the above I'LL TRY TO GET YOU PICS..AND PART #'S the front stock rotor is fine for street and hard track use..for raceing depends on your riding style..we have the 6mil..haven't tried it yet..we run stock on rain tires and wave on slicks..we still have options and combose to try.. if you never worked with any of the above, please take it so someone with exp..not the type of thing you want to try for the first time..if you have basic exp..should not be a problem JT |

I run a 6mm petal rotor and sintered pads on the 09 1125R, I used to run the same set up on my 2006 Firebolt (changed as soon as I could get my hands on an 1125R master cyl and 8 pot caliper. The best advice is to bleed the brakes regularly, no need to change master cyl, I change the brake fluid every couple of months to be on the safe side - brake fluid is much cheaper than a new set up. |
