I am thinking of putting my S1W motor in a S2 frame. I know the S1W owners might think this is a bad idea but to tell you the truth I do not ride the S1W not much. Thoughts!!!! |

We are a nation of hot rodders. And it can always go back into the matching numbers bike later. |

I have been thinking about this for a while. I took the S1W out for a spirited ride today. The bike is the fastest bike I ever owned thanks to the first owners build up. Now I need to decide if I will use the S1W front end or the S2 front end. |

They're different lengths because of the S2 being clip-ons. |

The S2 front end is more adjustable, isn't it.Just install some straight rate springs, new fork oil and seals. |

I'd go with the S2 Roma front end. I'm getting ready to re-do mine with heavier rate springs - I seem to remember reading somewhere they're set for like a 150 lb rider - and maybe a valve kit, but I don't know about that. The valving seems pretty good, I just want to ditch some brake dive. And after 25k miles...it's probably time for a fork service LOL |

When I did the 25,000 service on my white S2 just before the Gathering, I wanted to stiffen the front end up a bit. I experimented with different weight oils. 10W was too heavy and allowed me to feel a jolt going over small bumps, but worked well over the big stuff. I ended up going with the recommended 7.5W and adding a 1/2" preload spacer to properly set the ride height. IMO this worked out great. The bike handled great, and it soaked up the bumps perfectly. +1 on the S1 motor, the lighter flywheels and Tstorm heads will make a big difference over the stock S2 motor. |

bartimus, i also did the preload spacer changed on mine man helped cornering a 100% slowed down steering makes it alot more stable in corners. a little stiffer ride but i like the slower steering |

Carb. Bike slowly taking shape at my shop as Rex sources all the little bits. |
