Im getting better . Todays my 18th birthday, just popped around 18 wheelies to celebrate . I just wish I knew how to do them in 2nd gear... as its annoying (and slows downt o much) to try and put it in first when cruising around a nice local twisty road. I wish I could pop it up here and there for fun on the backroads. Next thing I want to experiment with is the infamous 1-2 shift wheelie. But any tips for a regular 2nd gear wheelie would be sweet! |

Jordan - It will be even easier for you since you have a 12, but on my 9 it works really well to be cruising around 3.5-4K rpms, stand up, lay off quick, then snap open the throttle while pulling up slightly on the bars. The more you do it, the better you will get a feel for the forks preloading and then bouncing back up on WOT. Because you have the extra power, you can probably use the method I do while sitting down. I have once or twice too but it is way easier standing. Just remember to be careful and check the road ahead for debris/potholes and have fun! Oh, and according to smarter people than myself, cover the rear brake Cheers mate! |

Ill try taking some weight off the seat and see how that goes (standing up). I have tried WOT and preloading the forks. Works great in 1st gear, dont even need close to WOT but 2nd is trickier. And I am going to try and get in the habit of covering the rear but it just seems like Ill hit it as I come up (weighting peg) and not have great control of it... I am not trying to loft this thing very high so engine braking alone seems like enough to set it back down but better safe then sorry. Anybody used this technique to wheelie out of a corner? Now THAT'd be sick . |

J- I have only done a corner wheelie one time and I wasn't even trying! On of the on-ramps to the interstate is an up-hill 180, I was dragging my right boot going up at about 5k in second, got to the top, and before I straightened out I went WOT and the front came up 8-9inches for maybe 6 feet, all while still leaning at a 45degree angle!! I totally wasn't expecting it, and it scared the crap out of me, but it was friggin awesome I'm sure you could use the roll-off-snap-on-preloading-the-shocks method, but just run the RPM's a little hotter and it shouldn't be a problem |

Sounds pretty awesome! My bike pulls good and hard in 2nd but not enough to wheelie like that, maybe on a hill though, or definetly with a bump . I dont know how you guys are dragging boot/pegs on the street. I have seen my buddies with RR's do it at the same pace as myself but the Buell (atleast my Ss) is just so tall and with so much clearance that I never had to worry about it. Even at the track the other weekend I was running a fast B+ pace, and thats with a Buell so it was the corners making that happen not the straights, and I only dragged twice. Removed the feelers and didn't drag again all day. But thats at the track! I guess its just because I hang off like a monkey, track or street |

Heh, yea you should have a WAY easier time than me doing 2nd gear wheelies LoL. And my pegs still have the feelers, but the edges of my boots are like, 45degree angles sanded smooth. I drag my boots all the time because when I lean they kick out a teeny bit for stability, and it is JUST enough that my boots rub before the peg feelers. Heh, I know that they are barely out because of the times I have really buried my boots and then sparked the feelers |

WOT is most often what I hear but WFO is used often... if I were saying it I wouldnt say Flippin but I am guessing there is a filter that prevents the real term from being posted. I am going off to the Sierra's for the weekend! Nice weekend of riding with American Sport Bike Al and a bunch of other Buellers . Maybe Ill try a 2nd gear wheelie or two . |

Jordan - I'm jealous! That sounds like a friggin sweet ride! Up here I'm still riding, but sub-50 degree temps are making it less fun. If you are out and you have some nice flat open road, try some of my favorite wheelies. I actually hop up onto the passenger pegs, stand up, and in second around 30mph or so basically just give it some gas while lightly pulling on the bars and the front lifts right up no problem. I do it most often when heading out onto the highway because it is easy to run up to 60+ mph in the wheelie. I really like standing on the passenger pegs for longer wheelies because it gives you a TON of control and is all around WAY easier to ride out once you get used to it. Keep in mind though that if you do anything while standing on the passenger pegs to be CAREFUL!! When you get your weight that far back XB's lift up REALLY fast and REALLY easily. Those are the reasons why I love doing them, but also the reasons you have to take it easy. Either way, do some wheelies and have a great trip! |

No plans to stand on the passenger pegs for me haha thats just tooooo much for me. I dont do balancing point or LONG wheelies. Just nice lofts. But the trip was awesome! And it was great to put a face to the name (Al). |
