I was headed to Buelltoberfest and decided to return home early due to technical problems and just plain exhaustion. A few miles from home all of my turn signals stopped working. No signals, no dash display. I tried searching BadWeb but for some reason I can't get the search function to work on my iPhone. I don't have access to manuals right now so any insight on things to look for when I get home later would be appreciated. |

Probably broken ground wire on the steering head directly behind the headlights. There are a bunch of wires bundled together for the ground. One wire may be hanging free and that will be the one that broke free from the bundle. Happened to my bike. |

See, if you got your ass here we could of taken care of it for you, and you could of rode my CR while you waited. Also sounds like a broken wire/bad ground. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I just got home and it's getting dark so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to investigate. Froggy, point taken. Damn, I would have liked to have ridden the CR. That will teach me to wimp out! |

We missed you, too bad you had problems. Since you weren't there we just talked about you! Check the connector on the flasher unit under the screen. Mine had not gone on correctly when I had it apart yet it still worked for a while and then slowly started failing until death. One of the blades was not lined up correctly to the connector. |

Ha. I thought I felt my ears burning. I couldn't find any broken wires on my first inspection. I'll probably order a new flasher and go from there. I think my front isolator is going too, so I'll be ordering that part along with the flasher. This was the primary reason I bailed out. It's no fun when you are riding a paint shaker. This will be my second replacement. I have 23,000 miles on my 06. |

I think you can pull your flasher wires and just touch the wires together to see if that lights up your signals. If that doesn't do it then it is not the flasher and you'll be wasting your money and still looking for a ground. |

When the flasher on my Uly died, I replaced it with an Trico EP-35 relay from Autozone. Cost about $5. Has been working just fine for the last 40K miles. |

This could also be a broken wire in the steering head bundle. If it is the right turn signal it could be the brown 3 into 1 connector there. When you say no dash display, is that just the signal display or the gages not working? If they all go funky it could be the red wire 3 into 1 splice junction, which powers the front stuff. Otherwise I agree with the ground wires and then the flasher, did you check the fuse? I rode the Froggy CR! |

Dirt, I picked up a Tridon EP-35 and all is well now. Thanks for the info! |

Try wiggling the ignition switch too. See my recent thread on electrical gremlins. Check to see if you have power to the auxiliary outlets and see if your tail (not brake) light is illuminated. None of these items (including turn signals) were working on my bike- I found I can fix the problem by jiggling the ignition switch. (Message edited by Hughlysses on October 10, 2009) |
