Hearing they're keeping the rev limit on to 7K is good. Amazing how short-lived these motors go when they're bumped up to 8!!! (but they DO pump out more ponies if you let them breathe)

FYI - Battle of the twins formula 2 pacific crown regional champion Rick Goldberg on the WFO racingonline.com XR1200. This class pits our XR against superbike spec SV's, Ducati 1000 air cooled desmos, etc. It is a frickin' riot...

Sportsters are beating SV650 Superbikes and Ducati 1000DS Supersports? Really?

One really cool thing about the XR spec class is the racers will sort out the suspension and all street riders will benefit. I wonder how long the shocks will be?

There are currently two different solutions being used in European racing.
Both the Spanish and Italian series use stock length shocks (they use Ohlins) but fitted to billet suspension risers like this (http://www.adrenalinmoto.co.uk/prods/148.html)
that raise the rear end by 2" and mount to the fixings left by the vacant passenger footrests. The UK series will use Ohlins shocks but in 70mm (around 3") longer (http://www.adrenalinmoto.co.uk/prods/248.html) form using the stock mounts.

One thing that they both have in common though is that they get rid of the stock rear shocks!

We prefer the suspension riser option as there is no need for longer travel, just increased ride height. We sell both options of course though : )

Ohlins now have a front fork upgrade for teh stock forks, but I think most people will run the new XR1200X BPF forks next year.

We run the block risers (home-machined) and racetech G3-S remote resevoir shocks. we are about 2" over stock ride height at the moment. We are going to try BPW forks for the bike at Barber, but the race tech guys think their 25mm G2-R fork cartridge kit in the stock forks will out perform them, so we will be doing some back to back testing to see. Honestly, we keep dropping the nose and the bike keeps responding better. Currently we are at a static 24.8 degrees of rake and 4" of trail. The bike feels like it needs more weight over the front end however. Kind of reminds me of riding the old tube framers actually! Its no Buell, but it is surprisingly good/fun. Hell, racing anything with two wheels is fun!

Shawn Conrad (1999 AMA Pro Thunder Champion)will be testing the bike at Barber and racing it in the bump up Formula 1 and Sound of Thunder classes. If the XR1200 spec series happens, we will have Shawn on one next year.

Shawn has less children, less weight, and more talent!!!!

We are good friends with Shawn and the guys i race a lot with (aka: team momba) used to be Shawn's pit crew back in the HMC ducati days. Shawn is really fast too....one of the privateer guys who could have gone pro given the right chances. He makes his living chasing contingency money, Shawn also raced sportsters in the old AMA 883 twinsport series, so everything feels like a really good fit.

Would be really cool if we could make it a team of two Shawns with another super fast local wisconsin boy well known in the Buell community...I'm sure we could put a second bike together with some dealer support/help for Mr. Higbee if he were so inclined!

I saw and met Rick on #609, he rode good and the bike ran well on Saturday, he was running good on Sunday too, then he just disappeared on the last lap, did he run off the course on the back part of the track??????? Any way he came back around and just rode up to his pit, I din't have time to go back and see him, both he and the bike looked OK from where I was watching.......
