I ride my XB9S 110 miles a day five days a week. I really rely on it to get back and worth to work and I can't afford to have the bike down very long for service. The front forks need a rebuild but like I said I can't afford to leave the bike sitting with no front end on it. My plan is to get a set of forks, have them serviced, and then switch them out one evening. I think my front rotor is a bit warped so I need a non-warped one to swap out. I also need a low mile drive belt. If anyone has a lead on these parts please let me know. BTW I am in Southern California. Thanks! Nate |

I feel your pain as I just had same issue. Forks are easily done at home with minimal cash (100 bucks) and about an hour of your time. |

Also the rotor probably isn't warped, but a combination of dust getting in the springs and brake pad deposits on the rotor can give the nasty pulsing. Since you will have the wheel off for the forks, carefully use a rag with brake cleaner to clean off the rotor and springs. |

Nate- What year XB9 and which type of belt? I've got my original 2003 belt (the entire drive system) with about 1500 miles on it. Same question for your forks: what vintage, 41 or 43mm? I've got an extra set of 41mm Showas set up for trackdays by pro builder GP Suspension. Let me know. EDIT - saw your reference to 2003... ok, that means I've gotcha covered. PM me if interested. I am selling some Race Forks (41mm) and front rotor in the classifieds, Forks are re-valved / sprung by GMD Computrack Boston (I work there) and the rotor was purchased new last season with my ZTL2 brakes. The Forks are valved for a 200 pound guy give or take. If you decide you want them I can redo the valving for your weight before sending them out to you.... Check them out and PM me if interested. The forks were just serviced at the beginning of the season. They have 2 rides to work on them before the motor went south. |

I have a new set of pads that I was going to put on soon but I don't know about these springs. Thanks. |

The ZTL brake is whats called a "floating" rotor. It is not directly connected to the wheel, in between the rotor and the wheel are little springs. If the springs build up too much brake dust, they will prevent the rotor from floating. |

Nate- Will look for your PM. Can definitely strike a good deal for the 2003 belt, etc. For the forks I might hold out to recoup some of the customer tuning investment. |

Hey Mark, sorry for the delay. I fully intend on getting that belt from you. I will let you know when. Thanks. BTW a good wash job got rid of the brake pulse. It was the first time I washed my bike since I bought it over a year ago. Shame on me! |
