This thing makes a heck of a difference! The thing I noticed immediately was the lack of heat on my inner thigh and calf. I rode for about 2 hours alternating highway and city streets. Normally, once I hit the highway my fan would start up and not shut down until the bike was parked. Not so this evening. The fan never came on during the ride, not even at stoplights. The fan did come on once I arrived home and turned the bike off. I am very happy with the add on to my bike. The install took all of 5 minutes. Here are the Part #'s: 1-Scoop Large Inner PN# M0852.7AA 1-Scoop Large Outer PN# M0851.7AA 3-Screws Hex BSCS 10-32X5 PN# AN1005.3FSS |

I agree, the HD dealer charged me a lot for 3 screws (6 bucks) However, I wanted to have all the right parts with my scoops and be able to just get home and git 'er done. |

Hmmm.... Not sure which one I want now. There is one slightly smaller that some people like, and of course the larger one that you just added. Guess I have a few months before it is warm enough to care. |

Fair enough, mine wanted over $9. I smelled the smell of something that smelled smelly! So it was off to the hardware store. |

Nice pics, you can tell how much of a good job it does with airflow. Personally, I don't like the looks of the smaller scoop, and the big one WORKS! |

I think I may get both and use the smaller scoop for spring and fall, and the larger if it warms up in the summer. |

I'm confused and must admit to not following all the brouhaha (I've always wanted to spell out that word!) about RSS's. This is a 2-piece thing (inner and outer)? How much $ for the pieces? I thought the scoop was only a one-piece item. |

Fahren, yes this is a 2 piece thing. The inner piece replaces the stock plastic insert. The inner piece also provides attachment points (3 of them hence the 3 screws needed) for the large scoop. There is no way to mount just the large scoop to the frame without the inner piece. |

Anyone know where the sensor that controls the fan is located? Could it be possible the RSS is cooling only the sensor and not the entire rear cylinder? |

I believe the sensor for the fan is in the rear cylinder hole- like down in it next to the spark plug. |

I love mine!! Put it on 2 weeks ago and with the weather being a little cooler here in GA the fan has not come on but once in heavy traffic, it used to come on fairly quick on a decent paced ride! Keeps the leg a little cooler too! The larger scoop is def the way to go, well worth it! |

Just ordered mine. Dealer said it won't be in for 2 weeks but at least it's been ordered. |

I picked mine up today. $22 for inner and $27 for outer at the closest dealer. The temp sensor is way down towards the bottom of the rear cylinder. |

I received mine last Friday. I rode several days in traffic and on the highway. The temps were in the mid to high 80's and the fan stayed off until shut down. I got the inner for $8.80, outer $19.16, and $8.50 for shipping. I got my screws from Lowes @ $1.20 for 10 screws and nuts. The size of the screws are 32 X 1/2, the package has 491306 on the label. The only problem is that they are made in China. Does that mean that my bike is no longer American made? (Message edited by 09ltrain on October 02, 2009) |

I believe you mean the screws are 10-32 by a half inch long. |

Are some dealers really charging as much as $50 for this? I paid $27.96 INCLUDING shipping from chicago harley.com and got it in 6 days to my door. edit: looks like it would be about $45 shipped if I ordered it again today. Guess Buell realized they could make a little more money off of us... (Message edited by andymnelson on October 02, 2009) |

Hmmm...They really gave it to me I paid 22.95 and 27.95 plus tax, minus 10% because I bought a new bike within 60 days. I really thought I was getting a great 10% discount. Stealership! |

Johnnymceldoo, you are right, 10-32 X 1/2" long. Miami78, I ordered from Chicago harley.com as well. I ordered on 09/12/09 and received it on 09/25/09. There was a thread about prices going up so I ordered on the 12th. The price now is $40.72 + shipping. |

I've had mine on for a week and my fan only came on once on shut down after riding to/from work for 4 days. It's great! |
