anyone had this happen? i have an 02 with the same miles as my dads 05, and his engine started making odd noises...

turns out one of the engine mount bolts fell out and got caught in the frame where the clutch adjustment is, and was rattling around.

then i noticed not one but two of them were missing.

the two bolts that point upward, and there are nuts on top... nuts and bolts are gone... well one bolt is gone. but they both had fallen out

wtf?

my dad is a heavy rider (280lb) and tends to lug the engine... i usually ride a gear lower than he does, plus his has the longer gearing in it to (or sprocket?) which makes it even worse... could that be the factor?

"plus his has the longer gearing in it"??? All Blasts have the same gearing except the 2000 model which was recalled and dangerous. Is your dad's custom?

I assume you mean the isolator bolts? I've never heard of them falling out and they usually use nyloc nuts which dont usually fall apart.

Lugging the engine can cause all kinds of vibration damage and is probably (imho) worse for the engine and bike than high rpms.

I had the same problem. Had to put new threads in the hole in my head. In my case, I've tightened that bolt down a total of 6 times before it happened.
