hello all, this is my first post as i just got my first street bike. my 2000 m2 is pretty much stock. i want to get rid of the "big black box". i went to harley and they ordered me a forcewinder xr with metal breather lines. on the instructions the first thing i came to said "when going from stock setup you must order carb support bracket". which they didnt. now im getting another intake by forcewinder that tech support told harley i needed as well as a carb support bracket that costs 55 bucks. can someone please tell me what i need. will the stock black carb support not work? should the crank case breath back into the forcewinder k&n filter or out the back? |

Your stock carb support bracket should be fine, that's how I had mine, the breather bolts pass though it and secure it to the engine. Save your money on that part, maybe theirs is chromed to match the polished intake elbow or something? Breather line routing is usually out to a catch can of some sort once the stock intake is removed. You will get goo from the moisture and oil mist escaping you engine. Popular mods are either replacing the top two sections of rocker box cover with the XB rocker box cover, or opening up the return hole in the rocker box so oil moves back down more freely. Search in the knowledge vault and you'll find some interesting reading on catch cans, blow-by, and breather routing, maybe check out XB rocker box cover swaps too. |
