I called Buell CS and asked about it. I spoke to Jon. He was well aware of the issue and said there was a "new" fix out for the 08 (this is about a month ago). He gave me a ref number and I went to the dealer. The service writer called CS and together they sorted it out. They replaced the innards of my original 08 cover. It has a little discoloration from the previous leak, but it is not leaking as of now (2k miles after repair). ac |

When I took took the bike to the dealer and showed em what was goen on, I gave them the kit # and suggested they may consider it. The tech came and talked and said he can either start replacing o-rings or wait for the kit to come in and bring the CR back. So waiting for the kit. Actually they have been pretty cool about it all. While waiting on the parts to arrive to fix mine, the bike has not leaked? All they did was remove the cover to inspect it, and then put it back together with the original parts. Almost a week with some hard riding and no leak? Not complaining, just wondering if others had this happen, if so, how long until it started leaking again? |

RevA covers have the weep hole in the cover. They show the leak almost immediately after clean-up. RevB covers have the weep-hole in the puck, a slow dribble will take a few days to show, after clean-up. While I'm waiting for the parts to fix mine, my puck is turned so the hole is at the top. No fluid loss until I pop the puck. Z |

I showed up on the board, prepared to search, and thankfully this thread was at the top. Mine's leaking too at about 2500 miles. Service department's getting a call today. |

Why are you down? You should be able to ride with it leaking. ac |

My fluid squirts out and will drain completely when parked. It doesn't hold pressure very well so clutch operation is hindered. I don't want the clutch to fail completely while riding. |

Dobieg2002, Hales in Mansfield seems to think they can get the parts in two weeks? I don't know how if A.D. can't get them any sooner? I bought my bike at Hales, but A.D. is a little closer for me, how has your experience with them been, other than the back ordered parts needed? Hales service has been pretty helpful, a few hiccups, other areas of the business, not so much! Thanks, Troy |

I suggest you both try Buell CS and ask nicely if they can expedite the parts since the riding season is winding down. ac |

I can still ride mine, and it still has not leaked since they inspected it, over a week now. |

Tbenson, When I purchased my XB in 2007, I would have never recommended AD Farrows. I just purchased my 1125CR / R from them and they have been great. There are still a few guys that don't get Buell, but they all seem to try. Neil (Downtown Service) rides in our Buell group COBRA, he is great and they are doing all they can to assist me. Northstar has been great also, Louie in parts always helps and there is a guy in service that rides a Buell (can't remember his name) replaced my first bad clutch cover and rear signals all without question. Avc8130, See my earlier posts, My dealer has tried everything and I have called Buell CS. The parts arrive the 18th from Germany, but they will not be at the dealers until the 25th, I am hoping they will get here earlier. I guess I could have had them replace the o rings etc.. and gone back after they failed, but I decided to wait for the permanent fix. |

dobieg2002 i just had that problem recently. got to the dealer who said there was a defect in the o ring and replaced under warranty. no more fluid squirting out when you squeeze the clutch and so far no more leak. he said it was different part than the recall weep fix |

So I brought the bike in yesterday afternoon and showed it to the service adivsor. He showed the bike to a tech who says, "Oh yeah, I've had a couple of those come in like that. You just need some new o-rings." When I mentioned the upgraded part, he got a bit of a sour puss on his face. I asked the advisor to call Buell Customer Service this morning, noting the X2086.1AM part number, before my bike's turn came in line for service. Got a call back this morning telling me that warranty rework has been approved, but part is on backorder like I told him it would be. Still deciding whether or not I want to let it sit in the shop that long, but all I know is that I wouldn't even have known to look for the leak, let alone push for the upgraded cylinder, without all of your guys' help. Maybe my "Pegasus award winning dealer" just got a little better too in the process? You guys rock!!! |

CR has been parked since returning from the dealer for the weep. Waiting on the X2086.1AM. Checked it out today and it's weeping clutch fluid, puddled on the floor. I think it may be time for me to start weeping. sixth time back for warranty work. Would be seventh but replaced the non-working rear turn signals with after market LED's. C. |

I will attest that the leak isn't a minor issue and can leave your bike unrideable. SD Harley Davidson has had my bike since August 25 after I lost clutch feel and could barely shift. Be VERY careful riding around with or without a leak and the minute you loose any clutch feel, have the dealer order the parts and stay local. |

Mine likes to spray clutch fluid all over my exhaust and tire...hence I have not ridden it. It will be in the shop Saturday. |

My dealer expressly said that he recommended not riding it until repair, although the leak was so small that I could barely identify it. Others here have turned the hole to face up so that it resist additional leaking. Not sure if that would help a geyser of a squirt tho. |

Odd, mine has had a slow, steady dribble since the 700 mile mark or so. Just under 22k miles, I topped it off for the third time, last week. I have an open work order, just waiting for the parts. Mine is the one with the hole at the top. At least she looks good. Z |

My leak seems pretty slow, i top it off about every 750 miles or so? I guess thats not as bad as some are reporting. I am going to just wait 6 weeks until the big Tacoma rains start coming down and then the service guys can take as long as they want with it. Boy it sure is a nice day today... what am I doing on the internet again? |

Dobieg2002, u lucky Bi@&#, I called my dealer yesterday and the kit is not in yet, they said it would be the 18th. Have to say, thought it was funny when the service dept answers the phone and they knew my name just by my voice. When the kit comes in and they get it repaired, I am going to ask them what they drink, be it beer or soda and walk across the street and get a case of it for them, the service writer and the mech. Like I said 6th time back, everything they have fixed so far has been fixed. It's the down time for the bike that sucks. I keep sayen one more time, one more time. C |

My leak ruined a pair of boots (actually only the right one) Sometime after I bought a new pair Buell UK offered to 'sort the boots out'. A week late I'm afraid but a nice gesture all the same I don't think Mr Honda would've done that. |

Yes I am lucky, I wasn't expecting it until the 25th. I'm back on the road again.. I had to refill the fluid and bleed the clutch twice once when I started and about halfway when I stopped for coffee I didn't have any clutch function. I have to clean my boots now and ride till the snow comes down. Hope all of you get yours done soon. |

Hmmm--- my '08 has never leaked clutch fluid, even with the original clutch cover. I upgraded to the Rev. B cover myself (including sleeve and various O-rings) after a crash, still hasn't leaked. I wonder how prevalent this problem is and how lucky I might be! |

My clutch dumped fluid all over the ground and my exhaust as I was riding. Needless to say it is in the shop now and the parts won't be in until October 16th. I will stop this post now as I am getting quite bitter... |
