Has anyone spray bombed a swingarm with any good results. I'm looking between a flat black to satin. which ever closest resembles the finish of the breadbox. Seein as I will probly be removing it to do my isos'. Hince my post earlier (reaccuring vibration Help). Any info on either subject would be great. Thanks. PS: powderer coating is out of the ? for now do to my first born which is due today but he's stubborn like his momma! | ||

You have an X1. Heck, no tuber IIRC requires swingarm removal for an iso change. Yours is the easiest bike to change them on. But if you do want to go way beyond what you need to do, powdercoat that thing! Paint would be waste. | ||

I looked at the manual last night and it said nothing of a plate or anything of the sorts. Do you know of another good source to read up on. I've been trying the KV but I'm having major difficulties backing out of each post without having to login every time, and yes my prefs are set to remember. Trust me I want it powder coated along with the tail section. I guess I'll leave it be til I CAN do it right. I dont want it to look half hearted. Thanks | ||

PC is cheaper than most think. Typically WAY cheaper than traditional paint, especially if you properly prep the parts you bring in. It will also be cheaper if you can pick a color that the powdercoater will be doing a run of already, and he can stick yours in with it- this may take some patience tho. PC glossiness is described in percentage of gloss. So high gloss is like 100%. A satin finish will be around 75%. If you want flat like the breadbox, I would think around 50% would do the trick. My PC guy is an old friend, and I know I get the "buddy discount", but if I were to bring in a cleaned and sand blasted swingarm he would charge about $25. I can barely rattle can it myself for that! | ||

You can find the side plate removal steps in the section that describes changing the drive belt. IIRC they even have a picture showing the bolts that need to be removed. |
