Tired of incandescent bulbs back there, I switched to LED bulb replacements a while back and added some LED wig-wag side to side flashers - inside the lens - on brake application. The LED bulb replacements started going wonky and I had very little running light visibility. Doing some thinking...I remembered a spare Ulysses taillight I had laying around. SO....in she goes. I test-wired tonight and mocked everything up, and WOW, she's gonna be bright. All I'm using is the Uly LED board, and the chrome reflector part. I cut off the red Uly lens, and it'll all be shining through the OEM S2 lens. That serrated lens, combined with a big ol' plate of LEDs...definitely noticable. Still gonna have the wig-wags, too. Couple small pieces to get still...I'll take pics before buttoning it up though. |

I'll have to check the price again...I want to say around $55? I cut everything off and am using only the circuit board and its metal brace/heat sink. I have pics...but my camera won't let them go and I'm too tired to go back out to the garage and grab the charger/base I can plug into a USB port. Run position is a little dimmer than I'd like...but the bike is bright red, so it could be worse, I guess. Brake? WHOA. Nice and bright. LOVE IT. Overall though, nice even lighting instead of 2 hotspots from the old bulb style lighting. |

OK, let's see if the camera cooperates. First shot is a closeup of the circuit boards. The main one is the Uly board; the 2 above it are parts out of a police light (Federal Signal Cuda TriOptic) that I use as the wig-wags for braking. Second shot is the running light. It's actually brighter in person, the camera stopped itself down because of the flash bouncing off the plate. Third shot is brakelight, with one of the wigwags showing lit. They alternate at 4 fps the whole time I'm on the brakes.

Wow...totally forgot about this. The Uly taillight assembly (lens is made on, you have to cut it apart to make it into what I have here) is $57 from your dealer. |
