From reading here, my understanding is that if you save receipts self service will not void the warranty UNLESS they show (claim?) your incompetence caused the problem you are claiming under warranty. So if your turn signal burns out after the service, you're probably OK. Engine blows up? Hmmm. I dropped my bike right on my new Rev B cover and mauled the puck badly, probably causing the last (4th) clutch weep. Not only did they fix the weep, my old puck mysteriously got replaced by a new one. YMMV. |

Bottom line.........NO. You can do the service work w/o affecting the warranty. Most Dealers will not let you do the warranty work, since it is the Dealer's responsibility. Later Neil S. |

You DO NOT have to have service performed by the dealer. They can't void your warranty unless they can prove that you screwed up something, or neglected to perform recommended service. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warrant y_Act |

Chad, How about if you have something go out and needs to be replaced, like a cluster. Are you "required" to let the dealer do that or can Buell ship you the part? |

You CAN do your own services, I have done ALL mine so far, at 21.7 k miles. Keep good records of what you bought/used and when. Add any observations during the checks also. When I had to call BMC-CS about a bad cam at the 12.4k service, I was told expressly, that they have no problem with me doing the checks and my warranty would NOT be adversely affected. BTW, a Buell certified tech MUST do any warranty repairs. Zack |

Buell may NEVER ship a part to anyone but a dealer. No one BUT a dealer may EVER do warranty work. You may do your own service and so forth. Excellent documentation is always a good idea. |
