+1 Kalali, I check my oil level with the engine running after I get done riding. No brain'r if you ask me. |

Blake: I agree with your methodology. In fact, it wouldn't eve require the use of machined swing arms, just the aluminum stock from them. A "bad" swingarm could have a number of test holes bored and threaded. This assumes the threads are in the swingarm stock material and not some some of sleeve. You remind me I need to check my oil soon. |

Blake - That procedure would certainly work and give the best answer. I'm not a mechanic nor an ME so I will pass on my procedure w/o claiming it is good. The drain plug is sealed by an O ring. If you put too much torque on the plug, you end up shredding the ring. Additionally, the elasticity of the ring keeps some tension on the bolt, reducing the chance of it vibrating loose. Because of these factors, I put very little torque on the drain plug when I replace it. Just a little more than snug. I've never had any problems with the plugs backing out. I realize it would be rather catastrophic if it did. Were one concerned about this possibility, safety wiring the plug would probably be the best way to alleviate those fears. |

"How do you know that they don't?" Well, I don't know for sure but it would be nice to get some signs (or miracles as it may be!) to give us a warm and fuzzy feeling that they are listening... |

You "don't know for sure"? How do you know at all? How do you come to any sense on the matter whatsoever? Are you somehow able to monitor who visits the site? |

I think all together we (Buell riders/owners) are really doing just fine here. This is the best FORUM I have ever had the pleasure of using. |

Finally back on a computer... Dealer ordered new breathers per BMC; they will be installed Tuesday. The techs are skeptical about the breathers making any difference. So am I but we'll see... The main Buell tech at the dealer still thinks its the oil pump and said it should have been replaced previously. I wonder if an oil line could have an obstruction? I assume the techs checked this when they were messing with the oil pump. BTW: Nice work-up on the torque value. Again, SFHD techs say 12-16FtLbs... |

"How do you come to any sense on the matter whatsoever? Are you somehow able to monitor who visits the site?" I said I don't know for sure whether they are or are not... OK, never mind. |
