Group "B" DSB qualifying...

I am not 100% sure what Herrin would earn for for 4th place. I know the winner gets 30 points. If Herrin earns 20 points per race and Danny only gets a couple, then it will be extremely close (perhaps tied.) Danny has a 36 pt. lead now. It's NOT insurmountable.

Right now, Danny has 357 points and Herrin has 321. Points are on page 93: http://www.amaproracing.com/assets/RR_Rules_2009.p df If the final results match qualifying, Herrin would have 357 and Danny would have 371 and Danny would win . . . BUT Herrin still does have a realistic chance - particularly if he can improve his spot and win a race or two. If Herrin can win both races and get the maximum bonus points, he could end with 384. To compete with that, Danny needs 7th place or better in boths races. So from a mathematical perspective, since Danny can't control what Josh does, he needs to shoot for two 7th or betters to guarantee the win. More realistically, if he can do two 10th place finishes, he has a very good chance, but if Danny wrecks or has a mechanical, all bets are off.

Oops. Sellers caught running with illegal fuel. His qual effort nulled. Bummer! Hate to see that happen to the kid. What was his team thinking? Danny's best time also tossed due to him passing pace bike at opening of qual. Final results for 1st qual run...

Looks like Danny's penalty only cost him a tenth of a second and no effect on his placement. Only top ten go to superpole though so he's stuck at 13th on the grid for both races' that's 7th pair back on the running start.

I just read that the Cardenas fella is out, so as I don't follow AMA anymore really, if they only run one race then Mr Eslick is the champ yes? If they run two races he just has to finish the weekend with a few points to win it....looking at Blake's points list. Good for that guy, always cool to win a series. I am guessing by the most points one can make in a weekend on the list it seems two races are run, so if Eslick finishes reasonably well and the third place guy doesn't sweep the weekend, then it should be over and done with.

Only top ten go to superpole though so he's stuck at 13th on the grid for both races' that's 7th pair back on the running start. Just a slight correction, if I may: The top ten positions have been set by this afternoon's Superpole. The remaining grid will be set tomorrow morning in the "final qualifying". Danny could move up to 11th - not really a big difference and that's the best he could do if everything goes right. . . . on the other hand, if things go wrong tomorrow morning he could lose position. Barring incident, he should be in the top 15, but a wreck tomorrow morning could put him at the back of the field.

posted by Blake "Cory West is a large man!" I think it is just the angle of the picture. Cory weighs about 150 lbs, so I would not call him a large man. I am not sure how tall he is, but I know is somewhat shorter than me and I am 6 ft.
