Like to get input on how the XT works not offroad but on gravel and dirt roads. Thanks |

Works fine. Changing to D616s from the stock Diablo Strada made a noticeable improvement on dirt roads for me. |

I have 100's of miles on dirt and gravel. In fact I just got back from a ride including gravel and dirt. No problems unless it's really muddy. Need different tires for that. bb |

The Stradas aren't great in the gravel, but they aren't the worst I have ridden either. Otherwise, it does just fine. |

Does the XT have the all same belt guards as the X? |

I took mine on a forest road that turned into a sandy ATV trail a few weeks back. It handled surprisingly well - with a few near misses in deep sand. On maintained gravel, it handles very well. |

On gravel do you do anything w/ the tire pressure? Generally my experiences are pretty good - HOWEVER

XT has the same belt guards. Only real difference between them besides the suspension bits & trees is the XT has a regular front fender and taller wind screen. |

I did about 25 miles of fairly rough gravel road a few weekends ago. The XT (with stock tires) did well and once I got used to it, so did I (with limited off-road experience). The only problem was a lost bolt for the windscreen. After the gravel, I had about 25 miles of smooth, curvy, pavement to Cloudcroft. Good ride. |

I did 10 miles of sandy forest road yesterday. I was chasing my buddy on his BMW f650GS. The most issue I had was seeing the ground from all the dust, so my fear was more from that. The bike handled good, but tires would make it much better. I had done this same road a couple weeks ago after a short rain. That made a huge difference on how the bike handled on that sand. |

I ride a fair amount of gravel and forest service roads on my XT. Changed out the Strada's for Sync's and it's a marked improvement. I don't ride too many places that require the taller suspension. |

Ifn you riding that thing off road, remember to change your bearings every 9-10 K DAMHIK, I just lost my 4th set this weekend, Damnit for not having my spares. |

You can take it to the excellent level if you take a minute before hitting gravel and release compression from the front and rear shocks, 1.5 turn will do just fine, and reduce air pressure from the tires down to 24psi. Remember to take it back where it was or your bike will shimmy on asfalt when you ride over 120km/h.
